Diana Lowenstein Fine Arts Exhibit
December 1, 2013
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach
One Lincoln Road
Miami Beach, Fla. 33139
The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach and Diana Lowenstein Arts Gallery will be collaborating for an Art Basel limited installation suspended center stage above the hotel’s lobby. The monumental installation titled “Light and Paper†is the work of German sculptor Angela Glajcar. The floating sculpture of fiberglass fabric measures 21 feet long and 8 feet high, combining states of equilibrium of lightness and is intended to evoke an emotional reaction to the inanimate object. Glajcar’s contemporary art has graced sacred spaces and galleries around the globe, exploring the spatial effects of large-scale sculptures and the play of light on the white canvas.
Art enthusiasts and hotel guests are also encouraged to tour the $2 million dollar contemporary art collection of Latin American and European artists displayed throughout The Ritz-Carlton, South Beach. The works of art are on loan from the private collection of Wynwood curator Diana Lowenstein. The rotating art exhibit will introduce eight new pieces on display in time for the Art Basel festival and will also be projected up several stories onto the façade of the hotel, located at the hub of all the Art Basel festivities for pedestrians and drivers to appreciate.
