Celebrating Everyday Women With Extraordinary Courage†Theme For Annual Vanessa Baez Memorial Women’s Brunch
The Official Closing Event Of Spoken Soul Festival
Amy Baez organized the first Vanessa Baez Memorial Women’s Brunch in 2004 to celebrate the life and courage of her late sister Vanessa Baez. Vanessa’s ability to remain strong while battling sarcoidosis continues to inspire others today, bringing together everyday women who exhibit extraordinary spirit in the face of adversity. Since the first brunch, VBMWB has become an annual, one-of-a-kind event that offers a day of inspiration, sisterhood, love, and laughter. The Brunch features a live auction, raffle prizes, guest speaker, guest artist, and complimentary swag bags. In honor of this year’s guest speaker Tanya Villanueva Tepper and guest artist Amy Estrela, proceeds of the event will benefit two local organizations that provide arts programs benefitting children with autism. Tepper, who is raising two autistic daughters, is a writer, national speaker, and founding member of the organization, Fiancés and Domestic Partners of 9/11. She appeared in the Peabody Award-winning documentary Project Rebirth and is living proof that tragedy can be transformed into triumph. Amy Estrela of Amy & Jacob Paint has witnessed firsthand how art can positively impact the life of an autistic child, as it has done for her son Jacob. VBMWB is also the official closing event of the Spoken Soul Festival, which supports local women artists.
