Art students from 15 Miami-Dade Schools who created sculptures from junk bicycles will compete this Saturday for the prize of “Best Recycling Project†in a charity benefit contest hosted by Gran Fondo Italia.
Circo Massimo Entertainment (CME), with the help of the City of Miami Beach, collected junk bicycles from the streets and gave them to 15 schools of the Miami-Dade district, selected by ODLI, Inc. (Organization for the Development of the Italian Language) and IIPA (Italian International Parent Association) under the Italian Consulate patronage. Students have disassembled, attached, painted and glued parts of the bikes to create a unique piece of art, as a free expression of kids’ creativity.
Artworks will be available to purchase at auction with 100% of the proceeds to benefit the MCH Foundation (Miami Children’s Health Foundation).
The three winning artworks will be on display in the “History of Italian Cycling†exhibit at the Coral Gables Museum, from Oct. 28th to Nov. 7th, and all the fifteen artworks will be at the EXPO of the 2014 GRAN FONDO ITALIA in the weekend of Nov. 8th & 9th in Coconut Grove, at 2500, Pan American Drive.
