About the exhibit
“Meninas Unwrapped”, is a nod to the popularity of Diego Velazquez’s ICONIC motif interpreted by Daniel Garcia and MANO. Velazquez would be pleased.
The interpretation of the world’s masterpieces is hardly a new phenomenon. Artists often look to the past to learn from the old masters. In “Meninas Unwrapped” contemporary artists: Daniel Garcia and MANO take on Diego Velazquez, interpreting his famed 1656 painting, “Las Meninasâ€, considered one of the greatest masterpieces ever painted.
The exhibit is not only a matter of looking back at the past but also at the popularity of the La Menina, it seems that every generation has made Velazquez’s “meninas” a reflection of their own, hundreds of artists from Picasso to Vik Muniz have been inspired by the works’ enigmatic qualities. Velazquez would be pleased
