Russell Simmons, David Martin, Danny Simmons and Jorge Pérez hosted the annual Art For Life Auction benefitting the Rush Philanthropic Arts Foundation at the Park Grove penthouse sales gallery in the Coconut Grove neighborhood. The auction, which was powered by Artsy and conducted by Simon de Pury, included pieces by Art For Life 2015 featured artists Wangechi Mutu, Romero Britto, Renee Cox, Shepard Fairey, Theaster Gates, Mr. Brainwash and Kehinde Wiley—who’s piece received the most bids of the lot and sold for more than three times its original value.
By night’s end, Art for life closed over 30 lots— 11 live and more than twice as many silent— totaling over $200,000. All proceeds benefited Rush’s arts education programs for inner-city youth and gallery programs for emerging artists and curators.
Guests were treated to musical stylings of DJ M.O.S while enjoying bites throughout the night catered by Michael’s Genuine Food and Drink.
