Participants must be 12 to 18 years old. Class size is limited.

John Maxwell stated “A leader is one who knows the way, goes the way, and shows the way.” Aspiring leaders can learn the principal of leadership by developing the confidence to show “others the way” through dance. In the same token, a good follow expresses the ability to be a great team member, thus swing dancing is an excellent tool to teach youth the life skills of leading self, communicating with others, and learning the balance of power and influence. In fact, life is not about getting to a certain place on the floor, it’s enjoying the steps and interactions of others along the way!

“Teaching Leadership Through Swing Dance” is a workshop conducted in partnership with South Florida Lindy Collective and The University of Florida/IFAS Miami-Dade 4-H Youth Development Program.
