In recognition of Breastfeeding Awareness Month this August, the Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade is partnering with the Florida Department of Health in Miami-Dade County and the Women, Infants, and Children Program (WIC) to host the Fifth Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk. The walk educates the community on the importance of breastfeeding to ensure babies have a healthy start to life.
The Fifth Annual Breastfeeding Awareness Walk on Saturday, Aug. 6 is a free event and will take place at the Amelia Earhart Park, located at 401 E 65th St, Hialeah, FL 33013. As part of Healthy Start’s mission to improve health outcomes of pregnant women and infants, it will join health care advocates, peer counselors, and certified lactation consultants in informing Miami’s community that breastfeeding is the preferred and optimal way to feed infants.
The family-friendly walk is open to the public and will feature food, music, baby gifts, raffles, t-shirts, kids activities, and educational classes for parents. Healthy Start Coalition of Miami-Dade will also be raffling a limited number of car seats during the event.
