UC|CU’s 2016 Legends Ball Takes You To Miami’s Gilded Era: Stroll Through A 1900’S Mansion In Little Havana …EAT, Drink, Dance And Celebrate Our Honorees
Awards given at the LEGENDS BALL: Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for Outstanding Political & Social Leadership, Jowharah Sanders for her work with Youth & Women’s Empowerment, Hernan Valverde for his Relentless Leadership & Conviction to the community.
Miami, Florida… Enjoy a moonlit evening of music, dancing, talent, food & drink, and honoring some amazing people, on the evening of Friday, September 16th, 2016 for our annual LEGENDS Ball in one of Miami’s oldest and grandest homes, Warner Place. This impressive Neo-Classical building was designed for J.W. Warner, founder of South Florida’s first floral company. The home’s fine craftsmanship is especially evident in its massive columns, Palladian window and porte-cochère. The house was listed in the National Register of Historic Places in 1983 and has been restored to its original splendor by the Miami Hispanic Cultural Arts Center, under the direction of Pedro Pablo Peña, and home to Creation Ballet, opera, dance & various cultural institutions.
Since 2010, our Unity Coalition|Coalición Unida (UC|CU) LEGENDS Ball and Leaders, Legends & Lovelies Honors Awards has celebrated the good, positive & outstanding within our LGBTQ & ally community. Through the annual recognition we bring the community together to focus on the similarities rather than the differences we all share, and how we can inspire others to do good, excel, be proud of who they are & just be better people. This year we are proud to Honor Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen for Outstanding Political & Social Leadership, Jowharah Sanders for her work with Youth & Women’s Empowerment, Hernan Valverde for his Relentless Leadership & Conviction to the community.
Sponsored by Jackson Health, Creation Ballet & the Hispanic Cultural Arts Center, the Legends Ball will host an incredible line up of entertainment and talent, including songstress EnVee from NBC’s The Winner and Telemundo’s Yo Soy El Artista; the legendary female illusionist & comedienne Adora, internationally acclaimed DJ Citizen Jane, samplings of Miami’s finest cuisine, and may more surprises!
Our work is 100% funded by events & private donations, and we are 100% staffed & managed by volunteers. Everything that comes in, goes right back out for programming, leading & assisting our community to fairness & equality.
