Fairchild Tropical Botanic Garden and the American Orchid Society (AOS) are pleased to bring together orchids as the artist sees them in glass, porcelain, metal, oil, acrylic, etchings, photographs and more.
Contemporary orchid artists as well as those of the past will be showcased. From modern Japanese cloisonné to the botanical illustrations of Blanche Ames, you are sure to be mesmerized and delighted by the display, running May 13 – June 25, 2017, 9:30 a.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the Adam R. Rose and Peter R. McQuillan Arts Center at Fairchild.
Some notable pieces on display include prints from “Lindenia: Iconography of Orchids,” Boehm porcelain and the rare Imperial Edition of Frederick Sanders’ “Reichenbachia: Orchids Illustrated and Described” a very limited edition publication with life-size illustrations. Only a few complete sets exist today, so do not miss the chance to see this rare publication.
The exhibition is included with Garden admission and free for Fairchild members.
American Orchid Society members receive 50% off admission with their AOS membership card.
