The Legendary House of Lords will be on hand to make sure we have a BALL. Vogue, or voguing, is a highly stylized, modern house dance originating in the late 1980s that evolved out of the Harlem ballroom scene of the 1960s.[1] It gained mainstream exposure when it was featured in Madonna’s song and video “Vogue” (1990), and when showcased in the 1990 documentary Paris Is Burning.
Longtime Lindy hop creative Sugar Sullivan and South Florida Lindy Collective will be on hand this year to get the party in Swing! Lindy hop is an American dance which was born in Harlem, New York City in 1928 and has evolved since then with the jazz music of that time. It was very popular during the Swing era of the late 1930s and early 1940s. Lindy was a fusion of many dances that preceded it or were popular during its development but is mainly based on jazz, tap, breakaway, and Charleston.
Worlds Game Events is also part of the “Smash the Slumlords” campaign, and will be in attendance to make sure the SMASH Bash has Super Smash Bros. in attendance. Super Smash Bros.[1] is a series of crossover fighting video games published by Nintendo. It primarily features characters from their own franchises. The series was created by Masahiro Sakurai, who has directed every game in the series.
Stonewall National Museum is one of the country’s few LGBTQ-focused museums, and SMASH is honored to work with Stonewall in the historic creation of Miami’s first dedicated housing facility for LGBTQ Homeless Youth.
