The Rotary Club of Weston will host its Rotary Run for Tomorrow, including an in-person Health & Fitness Festival and in-person Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge on Dec. 6; as well as virtual run events (5K, 10K, half marathon, half marathon relay) from Dec. 5–13. The City of Weston and Joe DiMaggio Children’s Hospital ― the event’s title sponsor ― are presenting the event.

Friends, families and kids of all ages can participate in the Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge and the Health & Fitness Festival, a health and wellness event open to the entire community. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic and to ensure that social distancing guidelines can be observed, the Festival and Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge will take place at multiple locations throughout the City of Weston, including Cypress Bay High School and Vista Park, from 8 a.m.–2 p.m. A variety of different fitness, wellness and health activities will be offered at every location. In addition, participants can complete online tasks.

All participants of the Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge will receive a free Festival T-shirt and giveaways, and can participate in multiple raffles and competitions at the Festival. All elementary schools in Weston have been invited to participate in the Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge. Elementary schools can win cash prizes, and the school with most participants percentagewise will be recognized with the Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge award. The raffles prizes and Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge award will be presented at 3:30 p.m. at Cypress Bay High School and will be live streamed via Facebook and Zoom.

Participation in the Festival is free of charge. There is no cost to register for the Mayor’s Get Fit Challenge, but registration is necessary.

Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, all runners will participate at a location of their choice and complete their run any time between Dec. 5–13. Run results will be tracked by RaceJoy and automatically uploaded to a central data base. Artfully designed runner medals and hi-tech dri-fit shirts will be provided to all runners.

Key businesses in the Weston community sponsoring the event include DynaServ, Ultimate Kronos Group, and many other local and regional businesses. Sponsorships are available.
