Celebrate the season steps from the sand! The Second Annual Pumpkins & Palm Trees Fall Fest returns to the LOOP on Fort Lauderdale Beach, Sunday, Oct. 23, from 9 a.m. – 4 p.m.
Throughout the day, attendees can celebrate the harvest season under the sun and swaying palms at Las Olas Oceanside Park. The day will provide a fair-like atmosphere with tasty fall flavors, local vendors, live music by Matthew Sabatella and the Rambling String Band, contests and activities to celebrate Fall’s arrival, Florida-style. Families and well-behaved dogs on leashes are encouraged to dress in costume to capture fun photo moments and prizes.
Attendees will have the opportunity to sip, shop and stroll over three dozen vendors and snap a selfie at fall and Halloween-themed photo stations. Activities include live music, a Pumpkin Patch with pumpkins available for purchase, trick-or-treating, arts & crafts and fall flavors stations. Carnival-style lawn games, to win tickets for prizes, include Witches Hat Ring Toss, Pumpkin Tic-Tac-Toe, Gourd Bowling, Pumpkin Pong, “Corn” Hole and more. There will also be a “Bobbing for Apples” station sponsored by New York Life.
History is in the baking as The LOOP has teamed up with Fort Lauderdale Magazine to find the best pie in Broward County. Professional and cottage industry bakers are invited to show off their pumpkin spice and everything nice in the Annual Pie Baking Competition. Pies will be judged for flavor, crust, filling, and creativity by some of South Florida’s favorite foodies including Fort Lauderdale Magazine Editor Erik Petersen; Freelance Writer Jesse Scott; Entertainment Reporter and Host of Telemundo 51’s “Acceso Total,” Mariana Rodriguez; NBC 6 Morning News and Traffic Anchor Kristin Sanchez; WSFL Inside South Florida Host Miriam Tapia; and Thrillist Contributor Matt Meltzer. Sabrina Courtemanche, Riverside Hotel’s executive pastry chef, will emcee the event. In addition to gift cards and prizes, the first, second, and third place winners will have their pies and recipes published in Fort Lauderdale Magazine’s December issue.
Guests will have the opportunity to indulge in fall flavors cooking demonstrations with local area pastry chefs including The Ritz Carlton Fort Lauderdale’s Pastry Chef, Chef Jira Baird, and Marriott Harbor Beach Resort and Spa’s Pastry Chef, Chef Carissa DaSilva.
