Help Transform and Save Lives by Giving Resources in South Florida on Giving Tuesday for Disease Prevention & Early Detection of Breast Cancer and Heart Disease
The Women’s Breast & Heart Initiative (WBHI)—a leader in disease prevention and early detection—joins Giving Tuesday during the season of giving on November 28. A growing global generosity movement, Giving Tuesday, inspires hundreds of millions of people around the world to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity in their local communities on a that day kicks off the giving season and encourages people to do good.
Throughout the year, WBHI provides those living in South Florida with early detection resources, health education, care coordination, and patient navigation. The organization was designated the first official Florida license plate designed to support Disease Prevention & Early Detection.
Each year, 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer and more than 43,000 die. Despite remarkable advances in treatment and early detection, breast cancer remains one of the most frequently diagnosed cancers among American women, and it remains one of the leading causes of cancer-related deaths. Heart disease is the number 1 cause of death in American women, claiming over 400,000 lives each year, 1 in 3 women or one death every 80 seconds.
