Two aviation icons in Coconut Grove’s colorful history are the focus of a tour and reception on Sunday, September 25 to mark the debut of a network television show on ABC. Coconut Grove’s Business Improvement District (BID) is presenting a VIP Premiere Party and tour of the original terminal for Pan American World Airways’ pioneering flying boat service between North America, the Caribbean and South America.
Pan Am made headlines worldwide with its innovative service in the 1930s and ‘40s, boarding passengers at the famous Dinner Key terminal that now serves as Miami City Hall.
Events will begin with a tour of the former seaplane base led by HistoryMiami historian Dr. Paul George. A trolley to City Hall departs from Peacock Garden Café at 7 p.m. A reception at the café follows at 8 p.m. Guests will gather for the television premiere of the new show Pan Am at 10 p.m.
Tickets are $25 and seating is limited.
