Marco Brambilla’s “CIVILIZATION†— depicts a metaphysical journey from hell to heaven as represented by computer-altered found footage sampled from films both mainstream and obscure. Civilization (Megaplex) is an epic video mural containing 300 individual channels of looped video blended into a multi-layered seamless tableau of interconnecting images that illustrate a contemporary and often satirical take on the concepts heaven and hell.
Brambilla is an Italian-born Canadian artist and filmmaker who currently lives and works between New York and Los Angeles. Known for his early success with the 1993 science fiction film DEMOLITION MAN, the artist shifted from commercial work to video and photography projects and has since exhibited his art world-wide; including the Guggenheim Museum, NY, SF MOMA, New Museum, NY and others. Brambilla is represented by Christopher Grimes Gallery, Santa Monica, CA.
Additionally, for Sleepless Night – the Bass Museum will once again collaborate with the Miami International Piano Festival in presenting newly discovered pianists and prodigies. Come and enjoy a wonderful sampling of talented musicians for a Sleepless Night of classical music virtuosity. Thirty-minute programs offered hourly from 7-11pm.
