Ludacris was born Christopher Brian Bridges in Champaign, Illinois, the son of Roberta Shields and Wayne Brian Bridges. Being of both African-American and Native-American descent. Early in his elementary years, his family lived in Champaign, Illinois. At nine-years=old, he started rapping. He attended Emerson Middle School and, eventually, Oak Park and River Forest High School for his freshman year, where he first met his most important musical influence, famed poet Justin Ryan Fyfe. Furthermore, his family moved to live in Atlanta, Georgia and, in this time, his father exposed him to all kinds of music, ranging from Hip-Hop to Rock. In Alanta, Georgia, he attended Banneker High School. He is also a graduate of Georgia State University. In 2000, he got his breakthrough with his album, titled “Back for the First Time”, which reached 3x platinum. All albums following have either been 2x or 3x platinum, with his first film appearance being 2 Fast 2 Furious (2003), which was a success. Other film appearances included Crash (2004/I) and Hustle & Flow (2005).

Ludacris’ career can best be described as remarkable. He has sold more than 12 million albums domestically thanks to the blockbuster success of such singles as “Stand Up,” “Get Back,” “Number One Spot” and “Money Maker,” all of which had imaginative videos that accented Ludacris’ far-reaching imagination and his willingness to stretch the boundaries of what rap videos should look and feel like. With an unrivaled match of lyrical acumen, wit and imagery, Ludacris has solidified himself as one of music’s premier entertainers. Although he’s best known for his infectious tunes, Ludacris has shown that he’s equally adept at writing powerful songs with serious subject matter, including runaways on “Runaway Love.”

This versatility and artistic complexity enabled Ludacris to make a seamless transition to acting. His acclaimed performances in film (Crash, Hustle & Flow) and television (Law & Order: Special Victims Unit) have Hollywood and critics alike buzzing about his increasingly impressive screen resume. The recently launched Conjure cognac joins Ludacris’ Disturbing Tha Peace Records as yet another successful venture of the business mogul. It’s not all strictly business for Ludacris, though. Indeed, his philanthropic efforts rival his entertainment accomplishments. He recently partnered with Crash writer-director Paul Haggis and the Artists for Peace and Justice to help raise more than $4 million for Haitian relief efforts. Ludacris has also raised more than $100,000 for Atlanta flood victims through his The Ludacris Foundation and recently partnered with a local Atlanta automobile dealer to give away 20 cars to people who have been adversely affected by the recession.

Dominating any venue and infusing every party with his seemingly infinite energy, DJ Irie has captivated the entire industry. Voted 2005’s Best Club DJ by the Miami New Times, Irie’s passion, enthusiasm and particularly charming personality set him apart. Although Miami is his stomping ground, on the national level DJ Irie is impossible to miss. As official DJ to Jamie Foxx and the 2006 NBA World Champion Miami HEAT, and with appearances from MTV’s Total Request Live to the Nickelodeon Teen Choice Awards, DJ Irie knows no boundaries.
The youngest of three boys, DJ Irie was born in St. Croix and raised in Miami, FL. Schooled in Jamaica, at a private boarding school, he was introduced to his first and only true love, music. With a home made beat machine, constructed from a walkman and speakers, combined with Grammy winning and multi-platinum reggae phenomenon-roommate Sean Paul’s Casio, DJ Irie was born.
During the daytime hours, as DJ of the most listened to mix-show on Miami’s WEDR 99Jamz, Irie spins his favorite records three days a week, (Tuesday, Thursday and Friday) on “The Drive at 5”. He also holds the #1 weekend slot on Saturday nights from 10pm-Midnight with the “Saturday Night Thunderstorm”, rocking the weekend airwaves.
For DJ Irie, music and sports also seem to go hand in hand. As the official DJ of the 2006 NBA World Champions Miami HEAT, Irie is known in the American Airlines Arena by fans and players alike, for his immeasurable enthusiasm and ability to play the beats that get fans out of their seats. His energy is contagious, and for the fifth season in a row, Irie is steadily playing his position keeping the HEAT on fire.
But he doesn’t stop there. Irie is a mainstay in the Bahamas where he travels close to 15 times per year to spin at the extensive clubs, beach and holiday parties. 2007’s bill included the grand opening of Aura Nightclub Atlantis Resort. And you can find DJ Irie at other major events such as The Heineken House Party in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and Hawaii. His travels also take him frequently to Europe to headline at clubs in Germany, Switzerland and Austria among other countries, where his name and talent are well known and highly anticipated.
Branching out in the music industry also seemed like a natural progression for DJ Irie, and his consulting firm, Artist Related, has already made a name for itself with a roster of well known DJ’s such as: DJ E-Rock, DJ NVS Styles, DJ Knowledge and DJ Ross 1 of NY. Artist Related has been named the official entertainment company for the ever-exclusive Casa Casuarina (Versace Mansion).
DJ Irie is also a philanthropic entrepreneur who uses his skills to benefit others.
