On November 6th we have a chance to make history!
You are aware of our efforts to get the Pets’ Trust Initiative on the ballot. After countless hours of work, lobbying, phone calls, and emails, by a unanimous vote of the Dade County Commissioners, the Pets’ Trust will be on the ballot November 6th. These Commissioners have told us, “make sure you win….because if not, it could be ten years before you get to try again”……… (Just a footnote…the Children’s Trust failed the first time. It was over ten years before they had that second chance…………)

Besides passion, (which is in abundance) campaigns take money. You are invited to our kick-off event at the Biltmore Hotel, August 9th. (See attached.) All of you on this mailing list have consistently expressed your support and love of our animals, and you all go about it in different ways. But now……and for the next three months…there is only one way. Money.

We have to make the community aware of what is happening and what will continue to happen if we don’t fix the problem. This cost money. Most people have no idea we kill 20,000 dogs and cats each year. We have to tell them. It is estimated that we will need to raise $500,000 to win this campaign and get messages even as simple as that out. It’s never fun asking for money, but after all of your years being involved with our animals… you know that “our time is now”.

We are prepared to do all that is necessary to win no matter what resources we have. (I am making arrangements to go live in a cage at Animal Services for two days to draw attention to the campaign.) However, at the end of the day…it is all about promoting the cause to a very large Dade County population. We have to reach them. There is no shortcut. It takes money.
