A Gift from the HeART George Rodez Uses his ART to Aid Haiti’s Victims 1/27/10

International Miami artist George Rodez has scheduled four fundraising events at The Capital Grille restaurants in south Florida to aid the victims of Haiti’s earthquake.

International artist George Rodez and Rodezart.com are offering a unique opportunity to help raise funds to benefit the victims of Haiti’s devastating earthquake with all proceeds benefiting the American Red Cross International Disaster Response Fund. Mr. Rodez will be hosting four fundraising events at The Capital Grille restaurants across South Florida. At each event, in Miami, Ft. Lauderdale, Boca Raton and Palm Beach Gardens, guests will have the opportunity to purchase an 11″ x 11″ piece Rodez has chosen for this cause, appropriately called “The Gift of Love.” In addition, guests will also be able to bid on a larger version of this piece. The dates when Mr. Rodez’s artwork will be available at The Capital Grille locations are as follows:

•Wednesday, January 27 from 5 to 7 pm in Miami, 444 Brickell Avenue.
•Thursday, January 28 from 5 to 7 pm in Ft. Lauderdale’s, 2430 East Sunrise Blvd.
•Monday, February 1 from 5 to 7 pm in Boca Raton, 6000 Glades Road
•Tuesday, February 2 from 5 to 7 pm in Palm Beach Gardens, 11365 Legacy Avenue.

Rodez has created a special “open edition” for this fund raising effort. According to him, the 11″ x 11″ size was chosen to honor a member of The Capital Grille staff who lost 11 family members in the quake. “I can’t imagine losing one family member, let alone 11. I was heartbroken.”

As he did after Haiti’s devastating storms in 2008 and before that after Katrina, George has not batted an eye in donating proceeds from the sale of his artwork to different charities many times over. In fact in 2006, he was honored by Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen, stating, “Your involvement in fund raising for charitable organizations through your generous art contributions is truly commendable.” As for the people of Haiti he states, “The people of Haiti have been suffering long before these devastating occurrences. To sit here with our arms crossed while we see Haiti crumbling before our eyes is inhumane. We have to help these people. It’s no wonder they attempt to flee their own country looking for a better way of life. Maybe, just maybe, we can all come together to help make a difference and help these people achieve their goal right in their own homeland.”
