Blanc de blancs champagnes are revered for their crisp minerality and elegant aromatics. For Ruinart, Chardonnay is the very soul, and Blanc de blancs is the emblem of the house’s taste. On Friday, October 16th, Essi Avellan, MW will be joined by Frédéric Panaïotis, chef de cave for Ruinart champagne, to discuss Chardonnay in Champagne and the Blanc de blancs style during Miami Champagne Week. They will also talk about how wines are impacted by bottle format and share Ruinart’s new sustainability-driven resources against light strike.

Ms. Avellan is Finland’s first Master of Wine, and is widely recognized as a champagne and sparkling wine expert. She is the author of several books on the subject, including “Essi Avellan’s Champagne” and is the organizer of Grand Champagne Helsinki.

Ruinart was the first established House of Champagne in 1729, and has been producing exceptional wines ever since. Mr. Panaïotis was appointed chef de cave in 2007, having previously acted as the enologist at Veuve Clicquot.
