History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will feature New York Times bestselling children’s author Laura Duksta on the next September 9 noon segment of its “Meet the Author” interactive Zoom series. Laura Duksta is an Ambassador of Love and author of the New York Times bestselling children’s books, l Love You More and I’ll Hug You More. Originally self-published, I Love You More has now sold nearly a million copies in seven languages. Duksta felt from a young age that she was meant to travel the world, meet her brothers and sisters and share the message of love. She lost all her hair to a condition called Alopecia Areata at the age of eleven. She shares her own hero’s journey to self-love and acceptance, letting us know we have the power to heal and transform our biggest challenges into our greatest gifts. Duksta is fulfilling her mission of generating the conversation of love around the world through her books, school programs and inspirational talks. She has delivered her well-received presentation “Empowering YOU to Shine!” to 100,000+ students and educators across the country, as well as for a diverse array of groups and organizations. Her work has been featured in/on dozens of blogs, magazines, newspapers, radio programs and TV shows, including USA Today, the Miami Herald, the Sun-Sentinel and Boca Magazine, Whoopi Goldberg, Sally Jesse Rafael and more. Some of the biggest hearts in the publishing world endorse Duksta’s books and programs, including Wayne Dyer, and co-authors of the Chicken Soup for the Soul series, Jack Canfield and Mark Victor Hansen.

Duksta joins previous novelists Cesar A. Becerra, Dr. Joe Knetsch and Y.M. Masson, architect and historic preservation consultant Arthur Jay Marcus, historian John Bailey, plus authors Kingsley Guy and Donn R. Colee, Jr. as part of History Fort Lauderdale’s prestigious “Meet the Author” series, a chance to converse with Florida-based writers, launched in February. Upcoming novelists will be announced.

History Fort Lauderdale is currently open seven days a week, from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m., with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under.
