Global luxury lifestyle entertainment group Nikki Beach is thrilled to announce that the iconic talents of legendary pop artist, Steve Kaufman, former assistant to Andy Warhol, will be shown from December 2 to 4, 2010 at Nikki Beach Miami during the international art festival, Art Basel. A much heralded event, with over 100 unique and timeless pop art pieces will be on display in Club 01, the sultry nightclub located upstairs from the beach club.
Kaufman, a truly inspired and gifted artist, not only committed his life to his craft, he was also a dedicated philanthropist, involved in over 175 charities bringing awareness to such issues as racial harmony, AIDS and homelessness. Working briefly as Andy Warhol’s assistant and ultimately completing unfinished portraits for Warhol’s clients, Kaufman moved on to became a world-renowned artist in his own right, creating portraits of Frank Sinatra, Muhammad Ali, John Travolta, Marilyn Monroe and many others. His too-soon passing in early February 2010 was a devastating blow to the international art world. “Guests attending this event will have the chance to purchase his truly unique, original and one of a kind artâ€, said Chris Raphael, a close friend of Kaufman when he was alive.
