Big Blue and You Foundation and Streetwaves Present Art By The Sea at South Pointe on Saturday, February 5, 2011.  This was an art event that was open to children of all ages and their families. They focused on using ART as a tool to teach young people the ocean and other marine environments.

Streetwaves is a non-profit 501(c) (3) Corporation, mentors and empowers high risk urban youth by teaching them the art of surfing. The educational program exposes inner city kids to the ocean, teaches them the skill of swimming, and then trains and coaches the students in surfing and stand up paddle boarding. The majesty of the sea and the mastery of surfing foster essential life-skills, cultivates courage, commitment, and self esteem, while at the same time enriching and expanding the outdoor experiences of StreetWavesʼ student participants.

The Big Blue and You Foundation! Their mission is to inspire, educate and empower today’s youth to become stewards of the Earth and guardians of the Oceans through fun and educational interactions that encourages them to initiate change by being tomorrow’s leaders.
