Seminar Description:
You probably do not understand Copyright. Almost nobody does. It is a commonly misunderstood law and does not work the way most people think it does. Faudlin is going to break it down for the non-lawyer. This is VERY important information for all artists and anyone involved in the creative process. This seminar will give you a much better idea about how copyright works, what it protects, and what it does not protect.

The night opens with time for socializing and networking with complimentary beverages and bites provided by Life Is Art. After the seminar, there is time for further specific questions and more networking. This is an excellent opportunity to come meet other working artists and arts professionals from around the area.

Greg Pitts Biography:
Greg Pitts started out life at a disadvantage. Being born to a single parent and growing up without a father figure made life less than ideal. He did not meet his father until the age of 12. As a young teen, he exhibited artistic capabilities, however the lack of understanding and from his family lead to discouragement. He continued to strive to express himself artistically. He purchased his first camera on lay-a-way from a camera store in his hometown.

His artistic eye and fashion sense while a senior in high school lead to him was offered admission to a prestigious fashion design school, but because of stereotypical attitudes, students at school would call him a nerd and at home no one would assist him in the application process, stating that “that kind of stuff is for sissies,” Discouraged, he graduated without any formal plans. Later, he joined the Army in order to provide for his soon to be born son. Despite this difficult start in life, he continued to express his artistic side. He’s also an awarding winning filmmaker and photographer having taken photos of celebrities from Sean “P. Diddy” Coombs to Mary J. Blige, Tom Joyner, Robin Thicke and the late Teena Marie.

Greg Pitts abstract artwork has been compared to that of abstract expressionist artist Jackson Pollock. He is a featured artist at the G.A.B Studio in the Wynwood Art District in Miami, Florida.

Mr. Pitts first gained national recognition by making the top story on Google News on May 9, 2009 with a feature article being published about his work in EV Living Magazine.

He was one of 20 national semi-finalist photographers selected by W Magazine for their “Obsession” photographic contest in 2010. His artwork has sold in Berlin, San Francisco, Vienna Austria, Chicago and Ohio and is currently on exhibit in the Netherlands and in Stanford a town on the Cape Whale Coast of South Africa.

Mr. Pitts participated in Miami Art Basel 2010 and was successful-selling 3 of his original paintings. He can be contacted by email at blkjacksonpollock@bellsouth.net. Some of his abstract art can be viewed at www.BlackJacksonPollock.com.

Toast to the Season

Media, Celebrities And Close To 20 Artists Combine For A Fabulous “Toast To The Season”
December 8, 2010 from 7:00PM-10:00PM
Mediterranean Mansion
1350 Collins Avenue, Miami Beach

RSVP to gpineres@creativasgroup.com
Facebook.

The Mediterranean Mansion Opens It Doors
Media, celebrities, influencers and guests will enjoy bites courtesy of Escopazzo Restaurant (included in this year’s New Times as on of the “Top Ten Most Important Miami Restaurants of the Decade”- per Lee Klein and cocktails courtesy of Korbel Champagne, Herradura Tequila, Chambord Vodka and Jack Daniels. Other partners in this event include Miami.com, Next Miami Magazine, Miami Empresarial Magazine, Concept Flowers, InStyle Cupcakes, Cakes by Gaby, Mujer Magazine, Karent Sierra Aesthetic Dentistry, Printhouse USA, Creative Children’s Therapy, Life Is Art, Soul of Miami, and Toraño Cigars.

South Beach is about is to get a bit more exotic as the Mediterranean Mansion is ready to open its doors. Hidden away in the heart of South Beach and nestled amongst the Art Deco buildings that make South Beach famous is this hidden gem that brings a different element to the Magic City. The Mediterranean Mansion is a change of pace to the typical hotels and event spaces found on South Beach during a time when “non-traditional” event spaces have become extremely popular and well sought after. The venue will open its doors during a cocktail party this December 8, 2010 from 7:00PM-10:00PM.

The Mediterranean Mansion is a magnificent work of architecture. Originally constructed in 1931 the mansion was later redesigned by the legendary J Wallace Tutt. Tutt who designed Casa Casuarina (formerly the Versace Mansion) sadly passed away shortly after putting his final touches of genius into the mansion. Tutt was quite proud of his last project which boasts three separate two story buildings that are designed with an ancient Italian-inspired aesthetic, complete with whitewashed stone and Mahogany wood-upholstered trim, offering a total of 8,800 square feet of luxurious living space.

Located at 1350 Collins Avenue, on Miami Beach, one would never know that behind a modest iron gate stood a magnificent piece of art know as the Mediterranean Mansion. As one walks through the unassuming gate you are immediately transported from South Beach to an exotic Villa in Italy. Once greeted by a 2,500 square foot courtyard adorned with palm trees and tropical shrubbery one feels in a state of relaxed bliss. Within the courtyard lies a covered heated swimming which adds another element to the already relaxed and tropical environment. The courtyard lends itself to an amazing array of events including weddings, cocktail events, and corporate functions. For those who are looking for an overnight stay in the heart of South Beach with all the luxury and without all the fuss that goes along with South Beach the mansion features and interior that is sure to fit the bill. The location is now available for those wanting to stay at a luxe location minus the pretentiousness.

The Mediterranean Mansion was designed with comfort and luxury in mind. The three-in-one villa features five independent mansion suites which are worthy of being called a J Wallace Tutt project. The main house includes a master suite, private movie theater/media room which features a 96’ projection screen, open air office, guest bathroom, dining room, and a fully functional European style kitchen which is large enough for multiple chefs. The guest house which comprises two guests suites, both with en-suite bathrooms is perfect for entertaining as the first floor features a billiard room with wet bar. The third building offers two suites with en-suite bathrooms and an 800 square foot wine cellar which is situated in the basement.

The Mediterranean Mansion was successfully designed to be an alternative space in the city of fun and sun. The Mansion offers the sights and sounds of a secluded Villa in an exotic country while being just a few foot steps away from the trendy and white sands of South Beach. The venue invites you to plan your next event or vacation the Mediterranean way. The “Toast to the Season” by invitation only cocktail will feature a ribbon cutting with city officials, series of acclaimed artists including: Yoa Paneque, Gonzalo Penaranda, Jamie Martinez, Joseph Rivera of 305 Photography, Lizzie Easton Photography, Trek Six, Pedro Rodriguez, Jamie Tamburo, Jefreid Lotti and MANO Nogueira, who will show their work in unique style as all areas of the venue will be utilized as a gallery.

Come by and enjoy an atmosphere of fun and excitement. PLUS, A PORTION OF THE SALES FROM THE EVENING GOES TO SUPPORT THE ARTS IN SOUTH FLORIDA.

THE STATE OF
www.thestateofmusic.com
The State Of is the product of the marriage between Steph Taylor’s edgy piano/synth playing and Nabedi Osorio’s electronic-like live drumming. Their dark pop sensibility is born out of their hometown of Miami, FL and is reminiscent of artists ranging from the Bjork and the Eurythmics to Radiohead and the Cure. Taylor’s style of playing is often percussive and dark where Osorio’s drumming is melodic and when coupled, they create a dynamic sound larger than what’s expected out of two people.

“The State Of exemplifies that oxymoronic moment when something sparse becomes atmospheric – like the most electronic form of analog, or vice versa” -Broward New Times
“South Florida duo the State Of likes to keep pop tunes dark but upbeat. The ladies crank eerily pretty arrangements on the keys and back them with big, electroniclike live drums for a Tori Amos meets LCD Soundsystem effect.” -Tampa Bay Times
“The massive appeal of the State Of comes simply from variety” -Miami New Times

GUSTAVO RAMIREZ
www.facebook.com/pages/Gustavo-Ramirez/114359381795
I’m a 35 year old, mostly self taught visual artist (painter). I grew up in Orlando, Fl. and moved to Miami in 2001. My work mostly expresses and explores my unconscious mind in mostly automatic abstract techniques. I also like to make imagined and real portraits of people.

YAMEL MOLERIO
www.yamelmolerio.com
I was born in Havana, Cuba in 1971. I came to the U.S. in 1980 at the age of 9 during the Mariel boatlift. Since I could remember I’ve always been into art. As a kid, I remember being into drawing cartoons and even drawing anatomical posters for my mom who was a biology teacher. In high school, I started doing graffiti with my friends and it became a way of life during the late eighties. After I got into college I learned about contemporary artists, working with other media and art history. I also learned about adding concept and meaning to a work of art.
In my artwork, I deal with issues important to me by being comical at times instead of in your face political. I reject art styles or working in a specific style. I use imagery that ranges from cartoons to realistic portraiture. I want the message of the piece to be the most important thing. I want the viewer at first to be drawn to the piece and then to question why he/she was attracted to it. Maybe with a dialogue between the viewer and the artwork, the viewer will realize that popular culture has programmed us to think a certain way.
