Life Is Art Essence Call for Artists, Performers, Musicians, Singers, Dancers, Poets, Fashion Designers, Acrobats and All Creative People

Life Is Art Essence Call for Artists, Performers, Musicians, Singers, Dancers, Poets, Fashion Designers, Acrobats and All Creative People

——

Life Is Art, in conjunction with Parafernalia Studios, is producing a very exciting event:
ESSENCE
an art walk after-party and fundraising freak-fest

Taking place on Second Saturdays, after the Wynwood & Design District Art Walks, this will be a place for all art lovers to come and continue to party and enjoy the arts. With all of the people in the area with nowhere good to go after the walks, this is a real opportunity to showcase some of the artistic talent that south Florida has to offer.

We are inviting all artists, of all disciplines, in to participate. We have space for visual artists to show, a stage for musicians, singers, poets and performers, room for fashion designers to display, decks for DJs to spin, and anything else that you might need! It is a very big venue, and we plan to fill it with creativity.

The event starts at 9:30pm and goes until we decide to quit. Set up will be earlier that day. The Parafernalia Studios are on NW 25th Street, right in the heart of Wynwood.

There will be a donation bar, music, seating and dancing, as well as art and performances by our participating artists. We would like this to become *the* event to do after the Art Walks. Of course, you are welcome to sell your work and other merchandise (CDs, DVDs, T-shirts), as long as it is related to your work.

There is NO fee to apply or to participate. If you are interested in participating in any way, please contact us at submissions@lifeisartfest.org right away. The first event is the Second Saturday in December, December 12, so it is coming right up. Space and time will be allocated depending on how many participants we have.

When you apply, be sure to include your name, your contact information, especially your phone number, a brief description of your art, and a link to your website.

Please pass the word to everyone who might be interested.

Thank you very much!

Has Soul Of Miami Lost Its Soul???

{Greetings Soul Of Miami Fans. A quick word from your blogger here. As I am sure most of you have noticed, over the past couple of weeks, ads have been popping up on our site, we have done some rearranging, then some un-rearranging, and now, the sponsorships show up. So, the obvious question becomes: Is Soul Of Miami selling out?

Well, we certainly hope not. Actually, our intention is to bring you even more of the content you want. To do so requires more time dedicated to the site. Until now, we have been doing this in our “free time.” Now, we want to dedicate some real time to it. To do so means we need some income to cover the income that we are giving up from other activities.

So, we have placed a few ads around the site. We will do our best to keep them subtle and not disrupt your surfing. We hope that you find something that interests you there, and we will continue to refine what is advertised to get it more interesting. For more information about how it works, please visit www.google.com/adsense

We have also opened up just a few sponsorships for local businesses. For more information on those, please see our Sponsorship Info page. These will be for select businesses that we think fit our fanbase well.

We hope that you enjoy the improvements that we have planned. We are going to keep it fast and clean, just like it always has been. But, keep an eye out for new and exciting aspects of the Soul Of Miami. Now get out there and party!}

Life Is Art supports ARTery Miami Call for Artists Deadline Oct 23, 2009

Hello Everyone,

We are very excited to announce an artist opportunity during Art Basel week this year.

ARTery Miami is a new art fair during Art Basel week at SoHo Studios in Wynwood. Life Is Art is assisting them as they build an awesome event for Miami. ARTery Miami ARTbeat 2009 runs December 3-6, 2009 at Soho Studios Miami, located at 2136 NW 1st Avenue, Miami, Fl 33127.

ARTery MIAMI Art Fair during Art Basel Miami Beach – call for artists, galleries and art oriented organizations. Application deadline October 23, 2009. There is NO application fee. For information on how to apply please visit http://www.artery-miami.com/apply.htm.

SoHo Studios is an excellent event space right in Wynwood. Booth prices start at $4750.00 for 144 sq. ft. You can see the layout and pricing here http://www.artery-miami.com/plan_prices.htm. They are particularly looking for new media artists, but all artists and galleries are encouraged to apply. This is a great opportunity to be represented during the biggest art week in America. You can even go in together on booth space. Be sure to tell them that Life Is Art sent you!

ARTery Miami is an Art Fair endeavoring to “wake up the arts,” to eradicate safe mediocrity. The lull is over, dare to make your most provocative statement, show your most compelling art, scream. We aspire to inspire a display of human emotion where artists speak boldly, unafraid to offend, defend, raise their voices, be obnoxious, hilarious and most of all alive! More information here http://www.artery-miami.com/about.htm.

Please note that this is not a Life Is Art produced event, but they have engaged us to help them make this event top notch. We are assisting in promotion and consulting on the fair itself. Adela Holmes is the is the Senior Curator.

Also, look forward to another announcement about an event during Art Basel week that we are producing.

Sincerely,
James Echols

Starting Monday, we will be right back at it with the fun and frivolity! Also, we will be producing many more events through our other organization, Life Is Art, so hopefully you can come out and enjoy those sometime.}

The Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County welcomed Miami resident Toya LaRenn as its one-millionth patron at the April 16, 2009 performance by Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater

Adrienne Arsht Center For The Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County Introduces Its One-Millionth Patron To South Florida
millionth
Miami resident Toya LaRenn made Miami history on April 16, 2009 when she became the one-millionth patron to visit the Adrienne Arsht Center for the Performing Arts of Miami-Dade County. Upon entering the Sanford and Dolores Ziff Ballet Opera House for that evening’s performance by the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater, Ms. LaRenn was notified of this milestone and invited to join M. John Richard, President and CEO of the Adrienne Arsht Center, in upgraded seats. She was also awarded a Supporting Level membership to the Adrienne Arsht Center and a subscription to the 2009-2010 RRA-Broadway Across America Miami series.
On April 20, Ms. LaRenn was introduced to the community during a special luncheon to announce the upcoming RRA-Broadway Across America series. Mr. Richard presented Ms. LaRenn with an oversized ticket commemorating her as the Center’s one-millionth guest.
“To think that we have welcomed one million people in such a short span speaks to the Adrienne Arsht Center’s extraordinary reach and broad-based community support,” said Mr. Richard. “Going forward, we are committed to driving new audiences to our diverse programs and events so as to unite South Florida through the performing arts. That
community spirit is what this Center was built for, and it’s what will drive our next million patrons through our doors.”
Guests at the April 20th event were treated to a surprise performance by Montego Glover, who previously starred in the Broadway production of the hit musical The Color Purple. The luncheon also featured a sneak-preview of the 2009-2010 RRA-Broadway Across America Miami season, which will feature The Color Purple, October 27-November 1, 2009; 101 Dalmatians, December 30, 2009-January 3, 2010; Wicked, March 3-21, 2010; Mamma Mia!, March 30-April 4, 2010; and Spring Awakening, May 11-16, 2010. In addition to these hit musicals, the season will also include The Walworth Farce (November 4-7, 2009) and a dynamic performance by Broadway icon Brian Stokes Mitchell (December 12, 2009).
