— ARRIVE EARLY – The last thing you want to experience on Halloween Night is standing in a long line while wearing a Costume. Although we will be moving the line quickly, we cannot make magic happen when hundreds of people all show up at the same time… Also, you will have less of a walk to make from your Parking spot to the venue… Again, Get there early!!!

Over the last ten years, the Residence Party has moved like missionaries, recreating these special moments at different times and spaces in South Florida. With that being said, we have gathered the tribe yet again to honor 10 years of the Residence Music Collective, and to support our Brother in Sound, Andre Soulchild Williams, who is in the ring with a battle against prostrate cancer.
Please join us, Saturday, October 1, 2016 at Spirit & Beyond, on 4320 NW 2nd Avenue, 33127. Bring your dance shoes, your shekeres, your drums, your hoops, and join us for a party with a purpose. We are asking for a donation of $10. All proceeds will go to Andre to assist him with his medical treatment and expenses

Could This be Miami’s Greatest Oktoberfest Party Yet?
With rumors vehemently circulating the industry, it would be well advised for Ladies to grab their dirndl dresses and for men to pull on their Lederhosen as the Miami Rooftop is hosting their very first Oktoberfest.
Bulks of steins have been seen being carried through Pawn Broker’s back door in anticipation of the rooftop’s latest festivities, and it has been revealed that after many late lunches and evening drinks with Miami’s finest bacon connoisseurs, the Miami Smokers & PB Station’s Chef Guillermo Concha, Chef Jose Mendin is very much prepared to host the greatest party the Miami Rooftop has seen to date. And that’s saying a lot, as previous parties have gone down in the books.
With a reputable liquor and cocktail menu, Pawn Broker are said to give a gracious nod to the alcoholic wonders Bavarian history has produced, with a refined list of Deutschland beers and other nation’s glorious ales and lagers. It’s also alleged that the Miami Rooftop will be embracing their celebrated Pawn Broker cocktails with a slight twist to the regular menu, beer being the supplementary ingredient to a collection of novel Oktoberfest cocktails.
Thursdays are known for the rooftop’s resident DJ Vinyl Night and so there is a high possibility of one or two beer spillages from all the excitement. And as Bavarian folk festivals go, they are known to be anything but tame, of which with Pawn Brokers reputation, the bar is sure to live up to it.
Steins at the ready folks!

Craft beer lovers know that Grovetoberfest is a fun way to do some serious beer tasting of over 300 craft beers from around the world. This year, Grovetoberfest will move slightly South to Miami Marine Stadium; a move geared towards allowing more people to experience Florida’s largest beer festival. In addition, it has upped the ante by bringing a beer connoisseur on board who has been hand-selecting some of the rarest beers available for this year’s festival.
“We’re overflowing with good news. In our new home, Grovetoberfest will continue to offer local favorites and mainstream craft beers, but with a renewed focus on elite craft beers. We are working directly with the brewers to secure and reserve batches of incredibly esoteric and unique brews,†says Tony Albelo, organizer and chief sample taster for Grovetoberfest. This year, Blackberry Farms Brewery will be pouring in the VIP area. Civil Society Brewing will also be pouring at the event, making this the first time they’ve ever poured at a Miami-Dade beer fest. In addition, for the first time ever, Grovetoberfest will be pouring Prairie, Crooked Stave, To Øl, Mikkeller, and Slim Pickins. Aficionados will delight in sampling beers in the Sunshine State-of-Mind, a collection of over 40 Florida breweries including Wynwood Brewing Company, J. Wakefield Brewing, MIA Brewing, Funky Buddha, Saltwater, Banging Banjos, Due South and Biscayne Brewing, to name a few.
The new location allows for more room and easier parking. Other aspects of the festival include the VIP Lounge, which will be hosted by Chef M from Latin House Grill. In addition, it will offer certain perks not available to the general ticket holder such as specialty brews, covered seating area and air-conditioned bathrooms. The Homebrew Pavilion will showcase special brews made by passionate beer drinkers; the Food Row will offer food for purchase and the Kitchen Lab will feature beer/food pairing demonstrations by local chefs such as Ryan Martin from 180° at the DRB, and Zeke Man from 305 Brews. As usual, a Live Music Stage will feature dance-inducing music throughout the entire day.

Steak Brasil Churrascaria, the most authentic and enjoyable Brazilian restaurant in Downtown Miami, is announcing its anniversary celebration taking place on March 26th. For the past three years, the restaurant has brought entertainment and mouth-watering food to our plates, making us travel to Brazil without leaving the city of Miami. Many restaurants claim true authenticity in their food offerings, but Steak Brasil lets its customers do the talking. The restaurant prides itself in providing patrons an all-encompassing legitimate Brazilian experience by focusing on family, friendship and a love for tradition.
Jaciel Santos, owner of Steak Brasil, has worked in every possible aspect of the restaurant business for more than 12 years to finally craft together what he likes to call, “unique experience of proximity†to his native country. By emphasizing on little details, such as greeting customers with a welcoming and joyful “Bom Dia!†to hiring accomplished gauchos with over 20 years of experience preparing and serving according to Brazil’s richest traditions, Santos is showcasing to numerous customers the best parts of his culture.
“It was important for me to create a space where family and friends have the luxury to eat outside their home, yet still feel the comfort and ease of being at home,†said Santos. “I wanted more than a place where you go once a year to celebrate a big event, but instead a place that feels like the weekend visit to your favorite aunt’s house where you eat until your heart is content while talking and reconnecting.â€
During the third anniversary celebration, the “passista†dancers will be presenting an impressive performance for all of our guests and the restaurant will be offering complementary Caipirihna tasting, the most popular and delicious cocktail in the country of Brazil, 2 for 1 drink specials and traditional sharing options like picanha, an assortment of sausages or cheeses that will awake your taste buds.
“The 3rd year anniversary of our restaurant serves as a testament of all of our staff’s hard work,†said Jaciel Santos “We plan to expand and open a second location very soonâ€
Celebrate with the Churrascaria the astonishing year it has been and transport to South America from your seat.

Friday February 19th, The Palace invites you to celebrate our 28th Anniversary! We invite you to come boogie with us this year as Palace goes full-on DISCO!
To thank all of our loyal patrons for all the love and support over the years we are offering complimentary champagne and well* cocktails from 6PM-7PM. Right after the open bar*, find a good spot to take in all the amazing drag shows. The cast of Palace Queens, hosted by Missy Meyakie LePaige, have prepared an array of exciting theme numbers for the evening! “Killing Me Softly”, “I Will Survive”, “More Than A Woman”… all the classics, baby! We strongly recommend making table reservations for this night, as last year’s Anniversary party was totally ka-packed. Dj Surreal will be pumping some disco throwback beats to keep the mood high the entire night as we toast, cry, laugh, and remember 28 YEARS of Miami LGBT history.
So, come one, come all and get down because this party is ONE NIGHT ONLY. We’d like to thank you for always supporting us here at The Palace by making new memories. We hope to see you all for this incredible celebration.

Segafredo Bayside Grand Opening Celebration 12/16/15
Segafredo Bayside Grand Opening Celebration
Wednesday December 16th, 2015, 7:00pm – 10:00pm
Segafredo Bayside
401 Biscayne Blvd., #K5862
Miami FL 33132
Facebook
From the partners of Segafredo L’Originale on Lincoln Road, the new Segafredo Bayside is now open at Bayside Marketplace’s waterfront plaza. The newly built, state-of-the-art kiosk with a full self-contained kitchen and an expansive full bar will host a grand opening party with complimentary Prosecco and a live show with Spam All Stars.
Located on the amphitheater waterfront plaza, the 580 square-foot kiosk and 2,500 square-foot outdoor space boasts two large letters “S†in the logo’s style, signature red and black table tops as well as Segafredo’s branded color red throughout. Luca Voltarel, co-owner and partner of both franchises, along with Graziano Sbroggio of Graspa Group, and Mark Soyka envision an extension (with a “mainland†twist) of the successful music-driven lounge café in Miami Beach.
Seating 90 guests, Segafredo Bayside offers an extensive cocktail menu and casual bites. Craft cocktails include Lincoln Road’s favorites such as the Aperol Spritz and the Pim’s Cup adding a local focus with an abundance of drinks made with fresh fruits, herbs and spices, and local Wynwood Brewery beers on tap.
The menu will reminisce of the Miami Beach location’s Italian light fares with tapas, salads, paninis, pizzas and wraps. Most dishes will incorporate a typically Italian ingredient such as prosciutto, speck, fresh burrata cheese and more. Fresh produce will carry through as well.
“Our Segafredo concept was ready to cross the bridge and Bayside is a waterfront location we thought was a great match to our vision,†states Voltarel. “Downtown Miami is destined to incredible growth and we want to be part of it as it becomes a destination not only to national and international visitors, but locals on special occasions such as concert or Heat game at the AAA, and young professionals and urban residents within just a few blocks from us.â€
The decision to choose Bayside as Segafredo’s second location by the Graspa Group was based on Bayside Marketplace’s plans to expand and upgrade the mall site including common areas and waterfront plaza, the two-level parking garage as well as new retail space and the erection of the Skyrise observation tower.
Graspa Group will open a third location, yet to be solidified, for the Segafredo franchise within the Downtown, Midtown, Design District area by 2016.

Hialeah Park Casino Celebrates Second Year Anniversary

Saturday, August 15, 8:00pm – 10:00om
Hialeah Park Casino
100 East 32 Street
Hialeah, FL 33010
Hialeah Park Casino, home to “the world’s most beautiful race course,†marks the second year anniversary of its Casino opening with a two-day celebration. The event will take place with a series of concerts. The anniversary comes only months after the announcement that Hialeah Park Casino will undergo a multi-million dollar expansion.
Hialeah Park, established in 1921, was once known as the “THE†park for thoroughbred horseracing. Under the ownership and vision of John J. Brunetti, Sr., the park is once again a shining light in South Florida. Over time, as horse racing began to lose popularity, Brunetti, Sr. felt the park, known for its storied architecture, needed to live on. Today alive and thriving, it features a state of the art casino, which encompasses the spirit of “The Grand Dameâ€.
Hialeah Park Casino has now become an entertainment complex that features horseracing, gaming, professional boxing, and concerts by some of the world’s most famous Latin American musical acts, including Grammy Award winners Willy Chirino, Marlow Rosado, and Jose Feliciano.
Hialeah Park Casino will celebrate its second anniversary shortly after the announcement that the Casino will undergo a multi-million dollar development, which includes the opening of the new Kings Court VIP Poker Salon, and a state of the art simulcasting facility, as well as renovations to the Hialeah Park Amphitheater. The project will allow for more entertainment and culinary opportunities.
The festivities commence at 6:30PM on Friday, August 14, with University of Miami’s Casino Night, a private event, in the recently renovated Fountain Terrace outdoor venue. From 8:00-10:00PM on Friday night, VIVA will take over the Fountain Terrace to perform the music of The Beatles, The Four Seasons, and The Beach Boys, in an event that is open to the public. Late night entertainment will be indoors from 10:00PM until 2:00AM. Local favorite DJ El Russo will be joined by special guest Adrian Mesa in the Flamingo Lounge located conveniently inside the Casino. One day later, on Saturday, August 15, Hialeah Park will proudly present the critically acclaimed Miami band Locos Por Juana on the Fountain Terrace from 8:00-10:00PM.
John J. Brunetti, Sr. stated: “I was first captivated by the spirit of Hialeah Park as a young horseracing fan. I later had the opportunity to purchase the park. The wind of change inspired me to create Hialeah Park Casino, keeping the park alive for future generations. We invite the South Florida public to celebrate our second-year anniversary with us, as we continue to make history as a community.â€
Hialeah Park Casino, home to the “world’s most beautiful race courseâ€, proudly showcases the premier entertainment complex in South Florida. Hialeah Park Casino features acclaimed facility housing over 800 slots, 33 poker tables, and a variety of lounges, cafes, and restaurants. For more information on Hialeah Park Casino please visit: www.hialeahpark.com. You can find Hialeah Park on Facebook and Twitter.

Historic Virginia Key Beach Park official 70th Anniversary Party Celebration 8/1/15
Historic Virginia Key Beach Park official 70th Anniversary Party Celebration
Saturday – August 1, 2015 from 11am to 7pm
Historic Virginia Key Beach Park
4020 Virginia Beach Drive
Miami, FL 33149
www.virginiakeybeachpark.net
To celebrate the rich 70 years of history of this once segregated “colored only” beach & park. Festivities include exciting time-line exhibits from the 1940’s to present day, classic car show, live music performances, 60’s Motown review featuring “Maryel Epps”, Latin retro music, disco dancers, Junkanoo band, retro prices on most food & beverage items, unlimited free rides on the mini train and carousel and so much more.
August 1, 2015 marks the 70th anniversary of the establishment of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, this special beach located on Virginia Key, known as “Bears Cut†became an official “colored only†recreation site as a direct response to a bold protest, led by the late Judge Thomas. The community is invited to attend a day of celebrations, music, a classic car show, live performances, prizes and giveaways. Activities start at 11am. This is a free event for the community with an $8 vehicle entry charge.
“South Florida is in a new renaissance period of expansion and continued population growth,†shared Guy Forchion, Executive Director for the park. “It’s important that we share the rich cultural history, contributions and historic locations that are the building blocks of our great diverse city. African-American pioneers and Bahamian settlers played a vitally important role in the creation of Miami and building the communities and neighborhoods we live in today. For Forchion, those achievements, contributions, struggles and successes must be recognized and honored. “We’re celebrating the 70th anniversary of Historic Virginia Key Beach Park, a cherished, sacred place for Miami’s people of color and a symbol of segregation in the past that now welcomes everyone.â€
Throughout the day there will be a variety of entertainment with something for everyone. Community members who can remember the fun times they spent at Historic Virginia Key Beach Park in the 40’s thru 70’s are encouraged to bring copies of pictures to the event and post them on the “Memory Board” for all to see. For those who have stories to tell of their experience during the “segregated years”, they are invited to visit the “Time Tunnel Video Booth†and record their stories for the park’s historic archives.
In addition to a Classic Car Show and Motown Review, there will also be a (best dressed) contest for those who can replicate the fashion of their favorite era in the 40’s through 90’s, winning prizes for originality.

Internationally Renowned Neonatologist Among Other Champions to Be Honored at The Children’s Trust Annual Award Ceremony on June 12th
Dr. Eduardo Bancalari, chief of Newborn Service at Jackson Memorial Hospital and the director of Neonatology at the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine, will receive The Children’s Trust David Lawrence Jr. Champion for Children Award for his contributions over a 50-year medical career on Friday, June 12, 2015 at the Jungle Island Treetop Ballroom.
Together with other organizations and individuals whose extraordinary efforts have benefitted children and families in Miami-Dade County, Dr. Bancalari will be honored at the 10th annual Champions for Children Luncheon Awards Ceremony, hosted by The Children’s Trust.
Dr. Bancalari contributed to the development of one of the largest and most prestigious neonatal programs in the United States; has helped save the lives of thousands of premature newborns; and trained generations of neonatologists working worldwide.
The Children’s Trust awards ceremony honors individuals and programs for their superlative efforts on behalf of children and families. With an attendance of more than 700, this annual signature event is among the most coveted within the community of child advocates and in all of Miami-Dade County. The ceremony serves to inspire others to follow in the path of the award recipients, who include the following:
• Cecilia Seda for Excellence in Direct Service to Children and Families. A program coordinator for seven years with the Community Coalition’s Wise Kidz program, Ms. Seda has helped hundreds of children on the margins – for reasons of disability, shyness or language limitations – to feel safe and secure, able to thrive in the program, at school and in their lives.
• Liberty Academy Daycare and Preschool, 2015 Program of the Year. Converted from what was once an unsafe structure used for illicit purposes, Liberty Academy is now one of the county’s premier early childhood education facilities. Its transformation epitomizes the power of change that this state-of-the-art childcare center represents for one of Miami’s most historically under-served communities.
• Amigos For Kids Strengthens Families and Communities Program, 2015 Program of the Year. This community-based, culturally and linguistically sensitive program helps parents and caregivers break the devastating cycle of child abuse and neglect, while providing complementary support service for their children. The parenting component provides relevant, effective education and support to encourage an optimal environment to strengthen families and promote healthy well-being for all.
• Touching Miami with Love Today’s Leaders Youth Development Program, 2015 Program of the Year. This youth enrichment program supports young people in Overtown and West Homestead to develop essential life skills that buffer them from the negative influences of their communities. This innovative empowerment program supports youth as the key agents to transform communities, helping them to meet their personal goals and thereby strengthening the social fabric of the greater community.
Complete bios of each award recipient are available upon request. The Jungle Island Treetop Ballroom is located at 1111 Parrot Jungle Trail, Miami, FL. Reservations are $45.00 per person and a table of ten is $400. For more information or to make your reservation online, visit www.thechildrenstrust.org. The event runs from noon – 1:30 p.m.
The Children’s Trust is a dedicated source of revenue established by voter referendum to improve the lives of children and families in Miami-Dade County.

About Historic Virginia Key Beach:
2015 marks the 70th year Anniversary of the Historic Virginia Key Beach Park. In the 40’s, 50’s & 60’s Virginia Key Beach located on the island of Virginia Key, was designated as a unique vacation spot strictly for blacks. Located in Dade-County, this beach was the answer (for people of color) to South Florida’s whites-only beaches pre-1960’s Civil Rights. By 1979, Virginia Key Beach had been transferred to the City of Miami and was transformed into park status. Then in 1982 the park closed and was left abandoned until 2008. During the nearly 20 years of abandonment, the Virginia Key Beach Park Trust was formed and the park saw life again! This committee of dedicated people achieved getting the park placed on the National Register of Historic Places and the Florida Historic Marker. This “Paradise Renewed†is also designated as a Historic Site by the Miami Historic & Environmental Preservation Board! Today, Historic Virginia Key Beach Park is an anchor in the rebirth of the beautiful natural island of Virginia Key, “Miami’s Central Parkâ€!
