This summer, The LOOP (Las Olas Oceanside Park) invites everyone under the sun to turn up the heat in Fort Lauderdale’s oceanfront backyard with a series of events, including Dog Days of Summer Movies by Moonlight Series and a revamped rendition of the Las Olas Oceanside Park’s Farmer’s Market coined The MKT!

Dog Days of Summer Movies by Moonlight Series:
The LOOP invites the community and their furry companions to the Movies by Moonlight “Dog Days of Summer” series. Locals and visitors of all ages are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a favorite movie date to the main lawn at Las Olas Oceanside Park. Come early to dine at one of Fort Lauderdale Beach’s restaurants, shop the People and Pet Market starting at 5 p.m. or bring a picnic for a dinner and a movie experience under the stars. Miami Dade College’s (MDC) Live Arts Miami program announces a new series at Superblue Miami, an experimental art center. Fusing dance in a stunning immersive art setting, the series will kick off on Saturday, August 12 for two weekends with captivating performances by choreographer Mike Tyus.

The series begins with pop-up performances by LA-based choreographer Tyus, who has taken the dance world by storm. He and collaborator Luca Renzi will bring their unique style of contemporary dance — blendingimprovisation, fluid floor work and physical partnering that challenge the limits of the human body – to Superblue’s Pulse Topology exhibit consisting of 3,000 suspended light bulbs designed by renowned Mexican-Canadian artist Rafael Lozano-Hemmer.

Rainbow Oasiiis and Superblue are proud to present the inaugural Chroma Art Film Festival, a groundbreaking celebration of artistic innovation, immersive experiences, and the power of storytelling. Presented by Rainbow Oasiiis and in partnership with Superblue, the festival will take place on August 12, 2023 supported by Miami-Dade County.
Rainbow Oasiiis, led by multi-dimensional installation artist Haiiileen and visionary curator Shantelle Rodriguez, is Miami’s only artist-led and artist-in-residence program. Nestled in the vibrant neighborhood of Allapattah, Rainbow Oasiiis offers selected artists a unique work-live space outside of their usual environments. Through mentorship programs and access to Miami’s top artists and art organizations, Rainbow Oasiiis provides a nurturing environment for artists to reflect, research, and produce groundbreaking works.
“Full Spectrum,” the ongoing partnership between Rainbow Oasiiis and Superblue Art Museum, marks a new chapter in experiential artistic events, education, and community outreach. The collaboration aims to create a series of open calls and finite programs that engage and inspire audiences through immersive art experiences.
The Chroma Art Film Festival, as part of “Full Spectrum,” is set to redefine the boundaries of artistic expression. With a visionary approach, the festival will be the first of its kind to include a category dedicated to AI-generated videos. This bold step into the future of art highlights the festival’s commitment to innovation and its mission to provide a platform for artists and filmmakers to explore the limitless possibilities of AI in storytelling.
“We are excited to pioneer the integration of AI into the film festival landscape,” said Rainbow Oasiiis. “By introducing this category, we aim to push the boundaries of creativity, inspire new forms of artistic expression, and showcase the potential of AI as a tool for storytelling.”
The Chroma Art Film Festival, scheduled for August 12, will feature an array of captivating films, including experimental masterpieces, thought-provoking documentaries, mesmerizing animations, and mind-bending virtual reality creations. Audiences will witness the convergence of color, light, sound, and AI-generated narratives, offering a unique and immersive cinematic experience. Our testament to the ongoing commitment of Rainbow Oasiiis and Superblue to fostering creativity, embracing new technologies, and providing a platform for diverse voices in the art community.

Guests can tour the education center facilities, observe or sample a class, meet the teaching artists, win prizes, register to win a free fall class and enjoy family-friendly activities and light refreshments.

The Broward Center’s singing, dance, improv and acting classes are for kids, teens and adults and includes a class for those with physical and intellectual disabilities. Classes are designed to encourage artistic expression and teach theater skills in a supportive and inclusive environment.

The open house schedule and complete class listing are available at BrowardCenter.org/Classes. First time registrants will receive a discount at Open House. Classes begin September 11 and most continue for 10 weeks. Classes are limited in size and tailored to the appropriate age and skill levels from beginner to the more advanced student. All class fees include complimentary parking. Online class registration is fast and easy, and those who purchase a second class can enjoy a 10 percent discount on any additional class.

It’s time to “GO ORANGE!” Feeding South Florida® – the leading hunger-relief organization in South Florida – will host its Annual Outrun Hunger 5K in Palm Beach County in celebration of Hunger Action Day which also takes place on Saturday, Sept. 23. Runners, families and community leaders of all ages will come together to take steps in the beautiful Okeeheelee Park to raise funds and awareness to end hunger in South Florida.

Hunger Action Month, a nationwide initiative created by Feeding America®, takes place throughout September and is designed to raise awareness about the issue of hunger in America and inspire others to take action toward ending it. Throughout the month, Feeding South Florida will offer a range of events and activities to encourage South Florida residents to “GO ORANGE” and engage in various hunger-relief efforts.

Outrun Hunger race day check-in opens at 6:30 a.m. and the 5K will begin at 7:30 a.m. After the race, an awards ceremony and a raffle will take place. Participants can join the event as an individual or a team and conduct online fundraising prior to race day.

The Broward Center for the Performing Arts is accepting applications from high school students interested in arts, journalism and marketing to join the 2023/2024 Broward Center Teen Ambassador Program. High school students attending public, private or home school in Broward, Miami-Dade and Palm Beach counties are invited to apply to become a Teen Ambassador.

As Broward Center Teen Ambassadors, high school students will have a unique opportunity to earn community service hours and learn about careers in the arts. Access to behind-the-scenes experiences and select educational opportunities, invitations to attend unforgettable performances in every artistic discipline free of charge and participation in master classes, backstage tours and monthly meetings are among the many experiences that come to life for Teen Ambassadors. Miami-based singer/songwriter Ariel Rose became an award-winning artist at the age of 15 with her single, “My Perfect Day,” which won 1st place in the Pop Category in the Great American Song Contest. Her love for Latin multi-cultural sounds and her classically-trained background caught the attention of multi-Latin Grammy nominated Colombian producer, Juan Vicente Zambrano. Zambrano produced her first album, “Rhythms of Life,” which she recorded in English & Spanish. Ariel started developing her fanbase posting Spanish covers, being reposted by many Latin artists. Ariel Rose released a salsa version of Adele’s “Send My Love (To Your New Lover),” combining the rhythm & instrumentation of salsa with her strong melodic pop vocals to create a lively, fun & fresh new take on the song. Having performed around the country for various events & galas, her voice has captured the attention of thousands.

David has been creating unique experiences for children and families since 2001. He has done hundreds of private events for clients and created activations for companies such as Nickelodeon, The Gap, Coconut Grove Arts Festival and the Make A Wish Foundation. Feeding South Florida® – the leading hunger-relief organization in South Florida – is hosting a series of cooking classes in its one-of-a-kind Community Kitchen at its Palm Beach County warehouse in Boynton Beach.

During each class, participants will have the opportunity to gain hands-on culinary experience with Feeding South Florida’s Director of Culinary Services Susan Taves and take their creations home to enjoy. Prior culinary experience is not required.

A portion of the proceeds support Feeding South Florida’s mission to end hunger in South Florida by providing immediate access to nutritious food, leading hunger and poverty advocacy efforts and transforming lives through innovative programming and education.

In 2020, Feeding South Florida unveiled its state-of-the-art, 5,000-square-foot community kitchen. Although the kitchen is located in Palm Beach County, it provides 85,000 meals to people in the four counties that Feeding South Florida serves (Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties). The multi-purpose community kitchen serves as a meal production site, culinary training program, social enterprise catering, incubator space for graduates of the program, and healthy cooking classes. The kitchen advances Feeding South Florida’s mission of ending hunger in South Florida by serving up to 20,200 meals per day for children’s after-school and summer programs, meals for older adults and medically tailored meals. The kitchen also provides critical meals during disaster response.

The Friends of Jack & Jill Center – a support group of volunteers committed to developing community awareness, fundraising and program assistance for Jack & Jill Center’s children and their families – is honored to host the 22nd Annual Power Lunch at First Baptist Downtown Event Center on Thursday, Sept. 28, at 11:30 a.m.

The event pays tribute to special and outstanding honorees in the South Florida community who helped The Friends of Jack & Jill Center raise over $5.8 million for high-need children and families in the South Florida community since its inception in 1999. The 22nd Annual Power Lunch is anticipated to be attended by over 250 business professionals in Broward County.

Caitlin Stella, MPH, CEO of Joe DiMaggio’s Children’s Hospital will serve as the event’s guest speaker and Neki Mohan, the vice president of Visit Lauderdale, will serve as the Master of Ceremonies.

In recognition of their dedication to Jack & Jill Center, the luncheon will honor Big Brothers Big Sisters’ Bigs in Blue as the volunteer honoree, the Hudson Family Foundation as the foundation honoree and CITY Furniture as the corporate honoree. These awards are bestowed to those who have gone above and beyond through their contributions and service to Jack & Jill Center.

The proceeds from the event will benefit Jack & Jill Center’s mission to strengthen children and families through innovative education, supportive programming and community engagement. Jack & Jill Center supports children of high-need working families through quality early childhood education, elementary education, family strengthening program and HEALTH Program to ensure every child and family has the tools they need to be successful. Get ready to be captivated by an explosive fusion of culture, tradition and artistry with Roots, a vibrant and dynamic Afro-Caribbean dance performance coming to Lillian S. Wells Hall at The Parker at 8 p.m. Saturday, August 5 and 7 p.m. Sunday, August 6. Following its performances at The Parker, the troupe heads to New York City to present the performance at the Lehman Center for the Performing Arts at Lehman College.

Endorsed by the Ministry of Culture, Gender, Entertainment and Sports in Jamaica as one of the official events of the country’s 61st independence celebration, the performance features the 35-member Campion College Dance Society, one of Jamaica’s leading high school dance troupes.

Roots highlights the struggles facing the country and the optimism in the hearts of its people. Featuring a beautiful mix of modern contemporary and Afro-Caribbean folk forms fused with jazz and infused with reggae and dancehall, the repertoire transcends nationality and ethnicity to connect deeply with the viewing audience.

From the opening dance “Cry of Africa” to the independence dance drama “Jamaica Love,” audiences will feel the raw kinetic energy of the talented troupe. “In Our Lane,” one of the troupe’s most treasured pieces, highlights the country’s dominance in track and field. The work was choreographed by Renee McDonald, a Campion alumna and resident teacher with the society. Dwright Wright, the troupe’s artistic director, choreographed “Misogyny,” which explores the social ills facing the country and reaffirms the promise of Jamaica being the place of choice to live, work, raise families and do business.

The performances are presented as part of the Broward Center’s Arts for Action: Black Voices initiative, presented by Baptist Health and JM Family Enterprises, Inc., which aims to use the arts as a catalyst to heighten awareness, deepen knowledge, create connections and elevate the voices of Black creatives in South Florida.

As part of the initiative, the Campion College Dance Society will present workshops at the L. A. Lee YMCA/Mizell Community Center located in the nearby historic Sistrunk community. Nearly 200 summer camp participants will learn to execute Jamaican traditional folk dance elements with an emphasis on musicality, phrasing and style. The workshop will culminate with the participants learning and performing excerpts from selected Campion College Dance Society repertoire. The troupe will also present a lecture and demonstration for adults at the YMCA.

Dog Days of Summer Movies by Moonlight Series:
The LOOP invites the community and their furry companions to the Movies by Moonlight “Dog Days of Summer” series. Locals and visitors of all ages are encouraged to bring lawn chairs, blankets, and a favorite movie date to the main lawn at Las Olas Oceanside Park. Come early to dine at one of Fort Lauderdale Beach’s restaurants, shop the People and Pet Market starting at 5 p.m. or bring a picnic for a dinner and a movie experience under the stars. Movie snacks and drinks are also available to purchase onsite, and limited chairs and blankets are available to borrow. The events will take place on the last Friday in June, July and August.

Through the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA)’s continued efforts to include diverse voices and perspectives, the museum is offering a robust series of educational programming this July.

On view through Oct. 1, 2023, “Lonnie Holley: If You Really Knew” invites visitors to experience the work of prolific artist Lonnie Holley in his first major exhibition in the South. Also on view is the “South Florida Cultural Consortium” (SFCC) exhibition which showcases the work of 12 intergenerational South Florida artists.

“Lonnie Holley: If You Really Knew” provides an intimate and focused look at the career of Birmingham, Alabama-born artist and musician Lonnie Holley. The exhibition, curated by MOCA curator Adeze Wilford, features 70 works including foundational “sandstone” sculptures, new works on paper and large-scale quilt paintings that depict faces. Known for his unique style of art that draws inspiration from his life experiences, Holley often incorporates found objects and everyday materials, which he transforms into thought-provoking art. Holley’s influence on Southern art is highlighted throughout “If You Only Knew,” including a section he curated featuring works from artists such as Miami native Purvis Young, Thornton Dial, Mary T. Smith and Hawkins Bowling.

The “South Florida Cultural Consortium” (SFCC) exhibition brings together 12 artists working across various media including, sculpture, film and site-specific installations. The exhibition, this year hosted and organized by MOCA, provides a snapshot of the breadth and depth of the artistic talent in the South Florida art scene.

On view outside the museum through late August is MOCA’s most recent “Art on the Plaza” commission, LIZN’BOW (Liz Ferrer and Bow Ty)’s “El Mundo Es Mágico.” The sculpture, “El Mundo Es Mágico,” features displaced queer characters in a mix of reality and fantasy within Miami iconography, inviting conversations of fluidity, gender, class and identity. Central to the duo’s work is the feminist reimagining of each element towards a more inclusive, fantastical worldview.

MOCA miniMakers: Soap Carving Inspired by the Art of Lonnie Holley | Saturday, July 1, 2–4 p.m.
• Details: MOCA is hosting a special workshop inspired by featured artist Lonnie Holley. Participants will carve their own unique shapes and patterns with this take-home soap carving project. MOCA miniMakers is MOCA’s free and inclusive series of art workshops for children ages six and up. Children have access to a variety of art techniques, as well as an inclusive curriculum incorporating step-by-step guides, STEAM activation and creative free play. Taught by experienced artists and sponsored by the North Miami Community Redevelopment Agency, MOCA miniMakers aims to foster an accessible spirit of learning through the arts.

In celebration of the opening of Joan Didion: What She Means, exhibition curator Hilton Als will provide guests with an introductory walk through of the show beginning at 6pm in Paresky Hall. About Joan Didion: What She Means
The exhibition features approximately 50 artists, including Betye Saar, Vija Celmins, Felix Gonzalez-Torres, Maren Hassinger, Silke Otto-Knapp, Ana Mendieta, Ed Ruscha, and Pat Steir, among many others. The more than 200 objects and artworks include family heirlooms, paintings, ephemera, photographs, sculptures, videos, and footage from a number of the films for which Didion authored screenplays. This exhibition follows a chronology that grapples with the evolution of Didion’s simultaneously personal and distant voice as a writer and pioneer of New Journalism, with its emphasis on subjectivity and critique of power.

To celebrate that commitment, ArtServe is opening a new exhibit coinciding with the Veterans Administration’s 93rd anniversary called “Veterans: A Family Perspective.”

The exhibit officially opens with a free, public reception on Friday, July 21, 2023 at ArtServe from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. ArtServe is located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.

It concludes on Monday, September 11 in tribute to first responders and other veterans of America’s worst terrorist attack.

Artist participation in the “Veterans” exhibit is open to all, including veterans, active-duty service persons and military family members, whose artwork depicting the challenges of life after military service will be showcased.

“As the fanfare of July 4 sunsets each year, supporting our veterans remains a substantial daily need,” ArtServe Executive Director Jason Hughes explained, noting that this imperative was underscored by the June 9, 2023 presidential executive order on “Advancing Economic Security for Military and Veteran Spouses, Military Caregivers, and Survivors.” “So much of the heartache and difficulty of reintegrating veterans into civilian life is borne by their loved ones. The untold story of these families’ courage will be on display at ArtServe.”

Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade is excited to announce it will host its annual “Wild About Kids” Gala, with the theme Motown, at the Loews Coral Gables Hotel on Saturday, Oct. 28, 2023. The event will kick off with a cocktail reception at 6:30 p.m. followed by a three-course dinner in the Alhambra Ballroom at 8 p.m. South Florida’s top community leaders, philanthropists and influencers will be among the guests who will be transported back to the Motown era with dinner, dancing, live entertainment, an engaging program and more to support great futures for Miami-Dade area youth.

The proceeds raised will fund the Clubs’ crucial programs and services at its six Clubs and sites combined including its educational after school programs, tutoring and homework assistance, computer training, social skills, dance, arts and crafts, mentoring, and summer and athletic programs. These programs help children realize their full potential as productive, caring and responsible citizens.

DJ Sama alongside the Carlos Oliva Band will provide the soundtrack for the evening with classic hits from the Motown era including Marvin Gaye, Diana Ross and The Supremes, Stevie Wonder, The Temptations, The Jackson 5 and so much more. Guests will also enjoy a unique themed-musical performance from Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade’s youth members.

Supporters will have a special opportunity to sponsor a child through donations and participate in a silent auction featuring high-end items and exceptional luxury experiences.

Due to inclement weather, The LOOP Fort Lauderdale Beach has extended its Caribbean American Heritage Month Weekend Celebration to June 24 and 25. Since 2006, June has been designated as Caribbean American Heritage Month by Presidential Proclamation. The month-long observance promotes the rich culture and heritage of the Caribbean-American people and their contribution to the United States of America.

Building off The LOOP’s four pillars of engagement, “F.A.M.E.,” and its mission to provide “Infinite Experience for Everyone Under the Sun,” the inaugural Caribbean American Heritage Month Cultural Celebration Weekend at Las Olas Oceanside Park will showcase food, art, music and entertainment which are a rich and thriving part of the Caribbean culture in South Florida. The free event is open for the entire family to enjoy.

As music and dance are an essential part of Caribbean culture, the tropical beats of the islands will keep the party going all weekend long with sounds including Calypso, Reggae, and Soca to Salsa, Merengue, and Dancehall.

On Saturday and Sunday, guests will have the opportunity to purchase a variety of authentic Caribbean food and drinks, and watch cooking demonstrations sponsored by Grace Foods featuring “Taste The Islands” Chef Irie. The LOOP will also feature a special marketplace showcasing makers and artists of Caribbean descent.

History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “Florida Everglades: River of Grass Reflections” from Sunday, July 2, through Sunday, September 10. The summer exhibit will include colorful impressionist fine art works by Tim Forman together with environmental photographs from History Fort Lauderdale’s archived collection. The exhibition can be viewed in the art space on the first level of the New River Inn (231 Southwest Second Avenue).

Tim Forman is the third generation of Formans to have been born and reared in South Florida. He first picked up the brush at nine years old under the instruction of Peter Olsen. By 17, Forman was receiving commissions. Primarily a self-taught artist, Forman’s work is the result of dedicated practice. He uses field sketches, plein air paintings, and photographs to compose his pieces that are painted in layers with both knife and brush. He creates his landscapes to portray the splendor and simplicity of the natural world around us. Through his work, Tim seeks to lift the spirits and inspire awe above our day-to-day lives.

History Fort Lauderdale is proud to host a variety of engaging multicultural experiences, year-round. Permanent exhibits include “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts,” a visual narrative weaving the story of the ever-changing use of Fort Lauderdale’s waterways by following the strokes of the first people to today’s sightseers, “The Bryans of Fort Lauderdale” which allows visitors to experience the story of the City of Fort Lauderdale as told through the pioneer family that shaped its development from an agricultural outpost in 1896 to a bustling city in the 1920s to its current status as a leading Metropolis, “Juliette Lange: A Portrait of a Mezzo Soprano,” a fashion and lifestyle glimpse of the socially prominent Fort Lauderdale resident with a lauded career as a star vocalist of musical comedy, plus “Archaeology of the New River” and a multitude of stories and photos sharing the history of other founding families of Fort Lauderdale. The nonprofit museum also hosts an artists’ collective collaborative space.

History Fort Lauderdale is open seven days a week from 10 a.m. – 4 p.m. with docent guided tours, daily, at 1, 2 and 3 p.m. Group walking tours are available upon special request. Admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military, and children ages six and under. Through the Museum of Contemporary Art, North Miami (MOCA)’s continued efforts to include diverse voices and perspectives, the museum is offering a robust series of educational and public programming to commemorate Pride Month and Caribbean-American Heritage Month this June.

On view through Oct. 1, 2023, “Lonnie Holley: If You Really Knew” invites visitors to experience the work of prolific artist Lonnie Holley in his first major exhibition in the South. Also on view is the “South Florida Cultural Consortium” (SFCC) exhibition which showcases the work of 12 intergenerational South Florida artists.

“Lonnie Holley: If You Really Knew” provides an intimate and focused look at the career of Birmingham, Alabama-born artist and musician Lonnie Holley. The exhibition, curated by MOCA curator Adeze Wilford, features 70 works including foundational “sandstone” sculptures, new works on paper and large-scale quilt paintings that depict faces. Known for his unique style of art that draws inspiration from his life experiences, Holley often incorporates found objects and everyday materials, which he transforms into thought-provoking art. Holley’s influence on Southern art is highlighted throughout “If You Only Knew,” including a section he curated featuring works from artists such as Miami native Purvis Young, Thornton Dial, Mary T. Smith and Hawkins Bowling.

The “South Florida Cultural Consortium” (SFCC) exhibition brings together 12 artists working across various media including, sculpture, film and site-specific installations. The exhibition, this year hosted and organized by MOCA, provides a snapshot of the breadth and depth of the artistic talent in the South Florida art scene.

On view outside the museum from late June through late August is MOCA’s most recent “Art on the Plaza” commission, LIZN’BOW (Liz Ferrer and Bow Ty)’s “El Mundo Es Magico.” The sculpture, “El Mundo Es Magico,” features displaced queer characters in a mix of reality and fantasy within Miami iconography, inviting conversations of fluidity, gender, class and identity. Central to the duo’s work is the feminist reimagining of each element towards a more inclusive, fantastical worldview.

On view through June 25, 2023, visitors will be able to step into MOCA’s Paradise Courtyard and discover “Victory Garden,” an interactive sculptural community garden created by Miami-based artist Emmett Moore. Drawing inspiration from victory gardens of the past, which were planted during wartime to supplement rations and boost morale, Moore’s “Victory Garden” connects the local community with contemporary art and encourages visitors to reflect on their relationship with the built environment.

Starting June 12, MOCA is offering a contemporary art experience with its summer art camps. Children ages 6-13 may join the museum for in-person camps including Studio Arts Camp and Dynamic Design Camp. Each session will offer a different theme to introduce students to a variety of contemporary art or design techniques. The art camps will entail 10, one-week sessions through Aug. 18.

MOCA North Miami presents contemporary art and its historical influences through exhibitions, educational programs, and collections. Inspired by its surrounding communities, MOCA connects diverse audiences and cultures by providing a welcoming place to encounter new ideas and voices and nurturing a lifelong love of the arts. MOCA developed from the Center of Contemporary Art which was inaugurated in 1981. The establishment of the permanent collection coincided with the institution’s move into their current building designed by Charles Gwathmey of GSNY in 1996.

ArtServe and World AIDS Museum and Educational Center Host Discussion Thurs., June 1

When talk therapy is off the table because strong emotions make mentioning “that which is better left unsaid” too daunting, some turn to the creative arts to help them release their feelings and manage their mental health.

On Thursday, June 1, ArtServe joins the World AIDS Museum and Educational Center to present a panel discussion called “Painting Our Minds” on how artistry and self-expression can often heal, inspire and elevate well-being.

Featuring ArtServe protégé and artist Niki Lopez together with Licensed Mental Health Counselor Klifton S. Fehr as guest panelists, the two-hour event takes place at The Our Fund Foundation Hall at ArtServe in Fort Lauderdale from 7 p.m. to 9 p.m. Admission is free.

“I call it the ‘Elephant in the Room,’” Lopez said. In fact, she created “What’s Your Elephant,” a program that creates a safe space for people to dialogue and bring awareness to the unspoken through art. It includes visual and performing arts, interactive arts, creative community building, hands-on projects, workshops and events.

Fehr, who has dedicated himself to helping those suffering with severe and persistent mental illness, serial incarcerations, substance use disorders and other mental health concerns, particularly enjoys helping young people build their self-esteem, enhance their levels of empathy, increase their collaborative abilities and improve their capacity to set healthy boundaries.

The event includes free food and beverages, along with live entertainment and a “spoken word” oral poetry presentation by Rebecca Butterfly Vaughns.

Along with collaboration by ArtServe and the World AIDS Museum and Educational Center, the event is made possible by support from Broward Cultural Division and The Our Fund Foundation.

Sponsored by MyPsychiatrist.com and Broward Health, ArtServe’s mental health-themed art exhibit currently runs through Fri., June 16, 2023, and is open from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Monday through Friday and 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. Saturday. ArtServe is located at 1350 E. Sunrise Boulevard in Fort Lauderdale.
