With lyrics by Bill Russell and Frank Kelly and music by Albert Evans, conceived by Robert Longbottom, Pageant sends up the once cherished traditions of beauty finalists in bathing suit and ball gown competitions, while contestants compete for the title of “Miss Glamouresse.” And who wins the crown? The audience decides! Judges selected from the audience at each performance pick the winner ensuring that no performance is the same – and the on-stage suspense is real!

This opening production stars an ensemble cast including Conor Walton, Michael Scott Ross, Matthew Buffalo, Christopher Calhoun, Marcus Davis, Kevin Veloz and Larry Buzzeo. It is directed by Carbonell Award-winning choreographer/director Ron Hutchins with musical direction from Michael Ursua.

Along with its Season 11 lineup, Island City Stage will be bringing back its introspective Behind the Red Curtain public forum series, launched last year as an anniversary initiative to address the stories and issues that inspire its shows, as well as its popular Women’s Night at the Theatre. Additionally, the second Sunday performance of all five shows will be Mimosa Sunday which includes a pre-show complimentary Mimosa (21 and over), a light bites reception and a post-show talk back. With a “breathtaking conflation of grace and grit” (Cleveland Classical), violinist Jennifer Frautschi makes her anticipated NWS debut. Many listeners believe Ralph Vaughan Williams’ The Lark Ascending is among the most beautiful pieces of music ever written. Inspired by a poem by George Meredith that describes a bird in flight, the work forms what the composer called a “pastoral romance for orchestra.” As a prolific composer who wrote for Harry Belafonte and Marvin Gaye, Coleridge-Taylor Perkinson finds a rich source of inspiration in the spiritual “Calvary” for his First String Quartet. Low brass claim the spotlight in Kevin Day’s sizzling Ignition.

231 SW Second Avenue,
Fort Lauderdale, Florida, 33301

Cost: Free

History Fort Lauderdale, celebrating 60 years of stewardship of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will present “Florida Scribes & Stories,” a free meet the author monthly series beginning Thursday, October 13, at 6 p.m. Literary and history enthusiasts are invited to speak with local authors, purchase their latest releases and have them signed at the New River Inn Museum of History.

The first installment of “Florida Scribes & Stories” will feature Bryan Brooks, author of “PALMETTOS AND SALTWATER: A Love Song for a Place that No Longer Exists, Old Ft Lauderdale.” This fictional story takes place in Fort Lauderdale in the middle of World War II. A decorated Naval officer returns home, now supposedly a disgraced coward, to find his city awash with racial strife, German submarines offshore and the girl he loved questioning his real purpose for returning. Brook is also the author of “Sea Wyfe, Gray Wolf and the Buckskin Coat: A sweeping tale of love and mystery, affecting people from different times and cultures, bound by a gray wolf who travels through time.”

Brooks lives in North Florida and is descended from ancestors that sprang from deep southern roots. Though much of his writing was influenced by a 30-year career in the Fort Lauderdale Police Department, much more of it flows from spending over three thousand hours of his life underwater. Passion for ocean waves slamming onto sandy beaches combined with a lifelong interest in American History helped him insert fictional characters into actual historical events, all while staying faithful to the spirit of the times.

Upcoming authors in the “Florida Scribes & Stories” include Christiana Lilly on November 7, Fred Fejes on December 7 and Donn R. Colee, Jr. in January 2023. Additional novelists and dates will be announced.

History Fort Lauderdale is proud to host a variety of engaging multicultural experiences, year-round. Permanent exhibits include “From Dugouts to Dream Yachts,” a visual narrative weaving the story of the ever-changing use of Fort Lauderdale’s waterways by following the strokes of the first people to today’s sightseers, “The Bryans of Fort Lauderdale” which allows visitors to experience the story of the City of Fort Lauderdale as told through the pioneer family that shaped its development from an agricultural outpost in 1896 to a bustling city in the 1920s to its current status as a leading Metropolis, “Juliette Lange: A Portrait of a Mezzo Soprano,” a fashion and lifestyle glimpse of the socially prominent Fort Lauderdale resident with a lauded career as a star vocalist of musical comedy, plus “Archaeology of the New River” and a multitude of stories and photos sharing the history of other founding families of Fort Lauderdale. The nonprofit museum also hosts an artists’ collective collaborative space.

“Love Beyond” this holiday season! The Salvation Army of Broward County is seeking South Florida residents with a positive outlook and an affinity for philanthropy and fun to apply for seasonal bell ringer positions during the nonprofit organization’s three job fairs on Tuesday, October 11, from 10 a.m. – noon, Thursday, October 13, from 1 p.m. – 3 p.m. and Thursday, October 27, from 10 a.m. – noon. The job fairs will take place at The Salvation Army’s headquarters at 100 SW 9th Avenue in Fort Lauderdale. Approximately 125 paid positions throughout 50 locations will need to be filled.

Synonymous with the Christmas season, “ringing the bell” at a Salvation Army Red Kettle has been a tradition since 1895. It’s not just about ringing a bell, however. All proceeds from the Kettle stay in Broward County and support the Salvation Army’s feeding, shelter and social service programs. Each year, the nonprofit organization raises hundreds of thousands of dollars during this effort for the Greater Fort Lauderdale community.

Bell Ringers will be selected for employment for the holiday period of November 11 – December 24.

The Red Kettle Bell Ringers program is only part of the nonprofit organization’s efforts to help those less fortunate. Last year’s Angel Tree Program secured and distributed thousands of gifts to families with diminished resources. The Salvation Army is presently assisting Hurricane Ian neighbor efforts in Central Florida and is also actively assisting thousands of residents-in-need through its Food Pantry. Each Thursday, trusted Army experts provide non-perishable items and other pantry goods to more hundreds of underserved families. The organization also provides meals-to-go services for the homeless, its residents and other impoverished individuals.

If You Own a Dog in Miami, This Free Online Dog Training Workshop is For You 11/10/22

If You Own a Dog in Miami, This Free Online Dog Training Workshop is For You
Thursday, 11/10/2022-11/14/2022, 10:00 am-05:00 pm
Website
Cost: Free

If you are in the Miami area, we would like to invite you to a first-of-its-kind online workshop that helps you to housebreak your dog, stop bad behaviors, and train them to become as obedient as service dogs, using the same secret methods used by service dog trainers. Check out this free dog training workshop

Training a dog is certainly the hardest part of owning a dog. It can be very frustrating having a dog that is not housebroken, or barks excessively, or keeps pulling on the leash during your walks, or doesn’t respond whenever it’s called, or jumps up on people, etc.

You’ll be fed up, because it’s pretty exhausting to keep trying to make them listen. You’ll wonder how professional dog trainers help dogs behave exactly the way they (the trainers) want them to.

But hiring a trainer can be quite expensive, and to be honest, you don’t really need to.

I’ll explain how in a minute. First, let me talk about WHY your dog seems to be so hard to train…

The reason you are having so much difficulty training your dog is that you’ve been doing dog training the outdated way.

It’s not your fault though. The fault really lies with all the bad dog training information that’s out there on the Internet and elsewhere.

Most people start training their dogs using verbal cues or commands like SIT, STAY, etc. Because that’s what they have been taught to do by numerous books on dog training and by all the videos they’ve seen on the Internet.

Here’s the problem – that’s exactly how NOT to train a dog!

Why?

Because the science of animal behavior says that starting your training using verbal cues sets your dog up for failure.

Dogs that are trained only using verbal cues never get trained properly. Or at least, the training doesn’t last long.

So what’s the best way to train a dog?

The science is very clear on this – dogs are best trained by using body language. Now, this doesn’t mean that you should never use verbal cues. What it means is that you should always START your dog’s training using body language. Later on, you can bring in a verbal cue to reinforce your dog’s training.

That’s it? Yeah, that’s it :-)

So how do you train your dog using body language?

We put together this limited time FREE training in Miami, fantastic free workshop from the K9 Training Institute that helps you learn how to do just that.

The workshop is designed to help “normal” dogs like yours have the same level of calmness, obedience and impulse control as service dogs.

It’s being conducted by Dr. Alexa Diaz (one of the top service dog trainers in the U.S.) and Eric Presnall (host of the hit Animal Planet TV show “Who Let the Dogs Out”).

Frankly, the techniques described in the workshop are fairly groundbreaking – I haven’t seen anyone else talk of these techniques.

This is because it’s the first time ever (at least that I know of) that anyone has revealed the secret techniques used by the service dog training industry to train service dogs.

In the free workshop, you’ll discover:

How to train your dog using body language, rather than verbal cues
The 3 key techniques that service dog trainers use to train dogs, and how you can use them too
The most important step that “normal” dog owners have been missing (this is very important to get your dog’s attention, and it works 100% of the time)
How to stop bad behaviors like excessive barking, pulling on the leash, jumping, etc.
Why a lot of dog owners are unable to establish the amazing bond that service dog trainers have with their dogs
etc.

The tips shared in this free workshop work on ALL dog breeds – from small breeds like Pomeranians and Chihuahuas to large breeds like English Mastiffs and Great Danes.

Also, puppies as young as 6 weeks old, and previously untrained adult dogs as old as 13 years, have been successfully trained using these techniques.

It’s not a live workshop – rather, it’s a pre-recorded workshop, which means that you can watch it at your convenience. This is considered one of the best online dog trainings, with countless 5-star reviews.

However, while the workshop is free, I am not sure whether it’s going to be online for too long, so please check it out as soon as you can.

Boletos disponibles a $40-55. Mesa VIP disponible a $65 por persona. Para mayores de 18 años.

Hallandale Beach, Florida, 33009

Gulfstream Park Village, South Florida’s premier entertainment, dining and restaurant destination located on the border of Broward and Miami-Dade Counties, is pleased to announce its Sleepy Hollow Halloween extravaganza. Taking place Saturday, October 29 from 6:30-9:30 p.m., the annual Halloween event has been reimagined with a new, spooky theme and plenty of thrills for guests of all ages. This is a FREE event.

The multi-faceted event begins as the storied horseman embarks on a journey to find his missing head with a canter into the Village. All guests are encouraged to catch a glimpse of the Headless Horseman at 7 p.m., rearing his horse as he enters a spooky fog-filled entrance at the Gulfstream Park Walking Ring before haunting guests at the start of the evening.

After spotting the Headless Horseman, keep an eye out for a series of flash mobs. These hidden-in-plain-sight performers will transform themselves into a dancing mob of ghoulish tricksters throughout the night, between 6:30 and 9:30 p.m. Their performances will be splashed against a backdrop of laser lights and fog machines to set the perfect stage.

From 6:30-8 p.m., Gulfstream Park Village will feature spooktacular themed candy stations through the Village, a safe alternative to neighborhood trick-or-treating. With approximately 2,000 pounds of candy, each station also features music, lights, and live strolling performers. The ‘Carn-Evil Performers’ will spook and delight near each candy station, with themes including The Nightmare Before Christmas, Creepy Carnevil Circus, Zombies, Mummies, Vampires, and scary creatures from Stanger Things—like Vecna and a Demogorgon!

Beginning at 8 p.m. in the Gulfstream Park Walking Ring is the highly anticipated Evil Costume Contest with up to $4,000 in cash up for grabs. Guests can also enjoy a selection of food trucks including Cuban Guys, Pollo Tropical and La Nostra Pizza, and bars with refreshments for purchase as well as music, performers and Miami’s own Chris Cruz as the Emcee/DJ.

“Gulfstream Park Village reimagines its Halloween festivities and concept every year and has become one of South Florida’s most anticipated events,” said Alex Schreer, Director of Experiential Marketing for Madison Marquette at Gulfstream Park Village. “And this year we have another thrilling night planned that is guaranteed to be as creepy as it is fun for adults and kids of all ages.”
Families are encouraged to dress in costume as they stroll through Gulfstream Park Village to collect candy and sweets, watch performances, and take photos. Guests tagging their photos with #GulfstreamVillage and posting them on Instagram can enter a contest for a chance to win a Gulfstream Village Merchant Gift Card.

American Academy to Host “Secrets to Better Communication with Your ADHD Teenager” Featuring Diane Dempster and Elaine Taylor-Klaus

Website
Cost: Free

American Academy, a program within American Heritage Schools, is pleased to host “Secrets to Better Communication with Your ADHD Teenager,” a virtual event via Zoom on Thursday, September 29 at 7 p.m. This event is part of American Academy’s monthly program, “Experts in Learning Differences” speaker series. Hosted by Alexandra Rollins, admissions director of the American Academy Program, the expert speakers for the September event are Diane Dempster and Elaine Taylor-Klaus, parent coaches and co-founders of ImpactParents.

This virtual event will provide viewers with proven techniques and scripts that can be used for better conversations and will help parents and teachers create harmony at home, in the classroom, and everywhere else. Attendees will learn how to diffuse defensiveness, get buy-in, provide effective feedback, and improve relationships instantly.

“We felt strongly that parents of complex kids with learning differences needed someone to provide support to help their kids navigate life’s complications, and we realized that ‘someone’ was us! Who better than two professional moms whose lives and families had been transformed by coaching to pave a new path for other parents?” said Dempster and Klaus. “Parents and educators want their children and students with learning differences to become independent and believe in themselves. They want to help them genuinely feel capable of becoming successful adults. When parents and educators have the support they need, they can become who they really want to be for their children and students.”

Diane Dempster, MHSA, CPC, PCC is a professional coach, speaker, author and educator with 20 years of corporate leadership experience. Dempster is the co-founder of ImpactParents.com, a coaching organization for parenting neurodiverse kids, and co-creator of Sanity School® and the Sanity School® Certification Program for professionals. An experienced leader, expert in change management, and all-around life-sherpa, Dempster helps clients create deep, sustaining change and open their eyes to life. Dempster received a master’s from the University of Michigan and coaching certification from the Institute for Professional Excellence in Coaching (iPEC).

Elaine Taylor-Klaus, MCC, CPCC co-founded the first global coaching organization for parenting neurodiverse kids, ImpactParents.com. The mother of a complex family of five, she co-created a comprehensive and empowering collaborative problem-solving method for fostering independence: the Impact Model for taking a coach-approach to parenting complex kids. An author, speaker, coach and trusted advisor, Taylor-Klaus is the co-creator of Sanity School® for Parents and the Sanity School® Certification Program for professionals. She is also co-author of “Parenting ADHD Now! Easy Intervention Strategies to Empower Kids with ADHD,” and the author of “The Essential Guide to Raising Complex Kids with ADHD, Anxiety and More.”

The speaker series is streamed live virtually, and available for viewing following each event. The purpose of the speaker series is to educate families about topics that relate to mild learning differences and are relevant today. All of the speakers are experts in the various disciplines of each topic. The American Academy’s goal is to provide families with a safe space to ask questions and strengthen their knowledge about how to ensure the success of their child.

Island City Stage, creating quality professional theatrical experiences focused on the LGBT+ community for a universal audience, has announced its 11th South Florida Season, and with it, the return of its popular Behind the Red Curtain community forum series. On September 28, from 6 – 7:30 p.m., the theater company, together with the Miss Florida F.I. (Florida Impersonator) Pageant, will present “Secrets of a Beauty Queen: No Tea, No Shade,” an entertaining, insightful and sometimes outrageous peek into the world of drag beauty pageants. This program will set the celebratory mood for Island City Stage’s October 20 opening of the glittering, grandiose and glorious comedy Pageant.

Moderated by Alyson Thomas, president and CEO of the Miss Florida F.I. Pageant and a seasoned professional in the art form of female impersonation, “Secrets of a Beauty Queen: No Tea, No Shade,” will feature stories from Velvet Lenore, Miss Florida F.I. at Large 2021-22 and Joanna James, Miss Florida F.I. Supreme 2021-22. Now celebrating its 50th anniversary, The Miss Florida F. I. Pageant, recognized as one of the top five national pageants, will take place October 2 and 3 at The Venue/The Manor Fort Lauderdale. It attracts some of the top female impersonators, film, TV and fashion stars from across the nation and beyond. Drinks and light bites for Island City Stage’s community forum will be courtesy of Pub on the Drive.

Pageant is Miss America meets RuPaul’s Drag Race! This hilarious musical comedy sends up the once cherished traditions of beauty finalists in bathing suit and ball gown competitions, while contestants compete for the title of “Miss Glamouresse.” And who wins the crown? The audience decides! Judges selected from the audience at each performance pick the winner ensuring that no performance is the same – and the on-stage suspense is real! This opening production stars an ensemble cast including Conor Walton, Michael Scott Ross, Matthew Buffalo, Luckner Bruno, Marcus Davis, Kevin Veloz and Larry Buzzeo. It is directed by Carbonell Award-winning choreographer/director Ron Hutchins with musical direction from Michael Ursua.

Last year, in honor of its 10th anniversary season, Island City Stage created the Behind the Red Curtain public forum series to engage patrons in timely, relevant issues that are both addressed in its productions and affect the South Florida community.

In addition to Pageant, Island City Stage’s 11th anniversary season will feature Rotterdam by Jon Brittain from January 19 – February 19; I Wanna F@#king Tear You Apart by Morgan Gould from March 2 – April 2; Tracy Jones by Stephen Kaplan from May 18 – June 18 and Springfield Pride Commissioned by Island City Stage from August 3 – September 3.

Tickets for “Secrets of a Beauty Queen: No Tea, No Shade,” are $10 each and include one cocktail courtesy of Pub on the Drive. RSVP at islandcitystage.org.

Based in Miami, Los Wizzards is an embodiment of the city at her finest: a melting pot that blends a flavorful array of cultures while honoring its American home. The seven colorful and culturally diverse musicians came together through a series of open mic nights in 2016. Los Wizzards’ magic lies in their way of inviting their audience into the conversation with elements of funk, rock, pop, jazz, reggae, hip-hop and salsa.

Through festive yet honest lyrical storytelling and an unusually sophisticated approach to popular genres, their anthems cast a spell that compels listeners to join the dance. Their power has its roots in the team’s devotion to artistic discipline, constant experimentation, and a firm refusal to restrict their sound by defining it with one genre.

In 2020, that unique identity led them to win the honor of representing Miami on the city’s biggest stage as the Miami Heat’s official house band. Los Wizzards’ music is a celebration of life, Miami and the powerful magic that results from a playful and culturally diverse collaboration.

South Florida jazz pianist Brandon Goldberg, now 16 years old, has been playing piano and wowing audiences since he was 3. With “ample dexterity and wise-beyond-his-years sound” (JAZZIZ), Goldberg found his passion for jazz by listening to his favorite artists, including Herbie Hancock, Bill Evans, Oscar Peterson, Charlie Parker, Miles Davis and John Coltrane.

He has performed at the Newport, Twin Cities, Litchfield and Monterey jazz festivals and has graced the stages of New York’s most notable jazz clubs, including Dizzy’s Club, Birdland Theater, Mezzrow and The Blue Note. Most recently, Goldberg toured with the NYO Jazz Orchestra, playing at Carnegie Hall and the Kennedy Center.

Goldberg’s 2021 album, In Good Time, received four stars from DownBeat magazine and was named one of the top albums of the year. It features the late, great Ralph Peterson on drums along with Josh Evans, Stacy Dillard and Luques Curtis. Goldberg’s 2019 debut album, LET’S PLAY!, also received four stars from DownBeat, which placed it among the year’s best albums. LET’S PLAY! also reached the top seven on the Jazz Week album charts.

Brévo Theatre (@brevo_theatre) is proud to present “Funnyhouse of a Negro” as its final production of the 2021-2022 season. The off-brodway performance originally created by Adrienne Kennedy in 1964 will take place on October 22 and October 23 at 7 p.m. at the Proscenium Theatre at the Little Haiti Cultural Center located at 212 NE 59th Terrace, Miami, Florida 33137. General admission tickets are $25.00. Tickets can be purchased at Brévo Theatre (https://brevo-theatre.ticketleap.com/funnyhouse-of-a-negro/). “Funnyhouse of a Negro,” directed by Zaylin Yates and part of the theatre’s “Dans le avant-garde” series, is a poetic and symbolic investigation into one woman’s mind before her death. Sarah has created four different personas as a way to grapple with her own self-hatred: Queen Victoria, the Duchess of Hapsburg, Jesus and Patrice Lumumba. With these four characters at her side, Sarah tries to make sense of her conception (from rape), her life without her parents, and the creeping insanity that she feels all around her. The cast for the show includes Jessica Raquel as Negro Sarah; Jamall Lynch as Patrice Lumumba, Naomi Ray-Barnett as Queen Victoria Regina, Chasity Hart as the Duchess of Hapsburg and Omari White as Jesus and Funnyhouse Man. It also stars Onyekachi “Onyi” Anyagaligbo as Sarah’s Landlord/Funnyhouse Woman. The October 23 show will be followed by a symposium entitled “Between Two Worlds,” that deals with colorism and self-identity. This symposium will feature a panel of special guests and focus on mental and emotional healing for biracial men and women. A partnership between Brévo Theatre and South Florida AfroPride, the session will tackle topics on how the community can seek emotional healing. Learning tools to practice self-love and embracing all the things that define our humanity. Mental illness, self-hate, and the need to be socially accepted are issues that currently plague the Black and BIPOC communities. Admission to the symposium will be free and will directly follow the performance.

WHO/WHAT: Thanks to Puerto Rican famed Chef José Mendín, America has National Mofongo Day; an entire day to celebrate the beloved Puerto Rican delight made of plantain and often stuffed with a variety of delicious goodies. On Saturday, September 24, just in time for Hispanic Heritage Month, Mendín and Colombian culinary brother-in-arms, Chef Cesar Zapata, are teaming up and throwing down.

Together, and as part of Phuc Yea’s six-year anniversary, the Chefs, along with fellow boricua-owner Ani Meinhold, are hosting the Second Annual National Mofongo Day extravaganza at their Michelin-recognized MiMo eatery Phuc Yea, which is known for breaking cultural boundaries with its Viet-Latin mash-ups.

What to expect at this ticketed event? A bevy of all-you-can-eat mofongo bites from both talented chefs, a Welcome Snaiquiri (snack-sized daiquiri cocktail), and DJ Safe Stadick spinning vinyl and old school salsa classics. Think vinyl, la Fania, lots of rum, Hector Lavoe, mofongo and a lively phuc-ing vibe. Just Phuc Yea being Phuc Yea…

Guests can also take advantage of specialty craft cocktails priced at $10 featuring fan favorites such as the Coco Chanel, made with Bly white rum, lime juice, sugar, apricot liquor and orange blossom; an Old Cuban Named Gio, prepared with Havana Club Classico, muddled herbage, angostura bitters and cava; and the Cuba Libre, mixed with Havana Club Classico, Coca-Cola and lime.

“As a professional chef who is deeply proud of my heritage, I will do anything I can to spotlight Puerto Rican food and culture,” says Mendín. “I’m so happy to be hosting another ‘National Mofongo Day’ party and happier to be doing it with Cesar, a chef I love and respect.”

Tickets to the event which include unlimited mofongo bites and a welcome cocktail are priced at $20 per person and can be pre-purchased. Tickets will also be available day of at the door for $25 per person.

WHEN/WHERE: The National Mofongo Day celebration will take place on Saturday, September 24 from 4PM to 7PM. Phuc Yea is located at 7100 Biscayne Boulevard, Miami, FL 33138. For more information visit phucyea.com.

Exhibition Opening at NSU Art Museum
Johannesburg artist William Kentridge’s performance piece Ursonate, will be on view at NSU Art Museum, with screenings during museum hours, every hour on the half hour, 11:30 am to 3:30 pm. Based on dada artist Kurt Schwitters 1932 sound poem Ursonate, consisting entirely of a nonsense, invented language, Kentridge’s work is comprised of two film projections: one in which the artist emphatically gesticulates as he sounds the score accompanied by an opera singer and percussionist, while a constant flow of animated caligraphic images drawn by Kentridge are projected on the second screen. This exhibition coincides with the performance of Kentridge’s opera The Head & The Load at the Arsht Center for the Performing Arts, Miami (December 1-3, 2022).

Conversations at MOCA is an ongoing public lecture series, aimed at bringing forward discourse on a variety of topics to engage our community of voices. This Conversation is part of the ongoing public programming around the ground breaking exhibition My Name is Maryan.

The Polish-born artist who came to be known as Maryan grew up in a traditional, working-class Jewish family, before being captured by the Nazis and imprisoned at various forced labor camps, as well as the Auschwitz and Birkenau concentration camps. The sole survivor of his family, the young artist shed his name after the War and became Maryan in a radical act of self-definition. His iconoclastic, ground-breaking work, presented at the Museum of Contemporary Art North Miami, speaks simultaneously of traumatic loss and the resilience of the human spirit.

Participants are invited to join a walk-through of this powerful exhibition followed by an inspiring conversation, as a panel of scholars explores the multiple and profound connections between Maryan’s biography and oeuvre and the concepts of identity and memory. Panelists include Dr. Helen Sachs Chaset, Board Member, Miami Dade Holocaust Survivors; Dr. Luna Goldberg, Education Manager, Jewish Museum of Florida, FIU; and Dr. Rebecca Friedman, Director, Wolfsonian Public Humanitites Lab, FIU. The conversation will be moderated by Dr. Martin Palouš, Director, Václav Havel Program for Human Rights and Diplomacy at FIU. This event will be co-sponsored by Ruth K. and Shepard Broad Distinguished Lecture Series.
