History Fort Lauderdale, proud steward of our community’s past by making our heritage accessible and engaging to residents and visitors, will host its New River Marketplace on Saturday, July 27, from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The New River Marketplace will continue to run on the fourth Saturday of each consecutive month on the historic campus, in front of the New River Inn (231 SW Second Avenue) and along the Riverwalk.

Set under the shade of historic live oaks, the Marketplace will feature more than 52 vendors offering a selection of original art, antiques, furnishings, collectables, clothing, jewelry, luxury bath fixtures and more. Vendors will also showcase specialty plants including orchids and succulents plus pet supplies, organic food and natural health and beauty products. Gourmet bites and beverages will be available to purchase onsite. Live music and a tattoo artist will add another artistic dimension to this community event.

Admission to the New River Marketplace is free, however, guests are encouraged to take advantage of History Fort Lauderdale’s renowned tours and museums. General admission is $15 for adults; $12 for seniors and $7 for students (through age 22 with a valid student ID). Admission is free for members, military and children ages six and under. Feeding South Florida, the leading domestic hunger-relief organization serving South Florida, will host its “Summer Hunger Ends Here” community breakfast, open to the public. During the breakfast, Feeding South Florida leaders will honor the organization’s partner agencies, volunteers and advocates of the year. The event is presented by Delta.

Feeding South Florida partners with 300 nonprofit partner agencies throughout its quad-county service area (Palm Beach, Broward, Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties). In 2018, 27,000 volunteers passed through the organization’s doors to help sort food for families in need.

Following the breakfast, Feeding South Florida representatives will launch the organization’s MealConnect app, which Feeding America created to source more meals and help end hunger in America. Feeding South Florida will utilize this revolutionary technology platform, which makes it easy to connect donors with surplus food to their local Feeding America member food banks and their partners. This summer, Boulud Sud Miami has invited four chefs from Café Boulud, part of the Daniel Boulud family of restaurants, for a collaborative culinary journey. The Pop Series began June 11th and celebrates four chefs, four cities and four culinary muses that are pillars of Daniel Boulud’s culinary philosophy: La Tradition, La Saison, Le Potager and Le Voyage. Each muse will feature a kickoff ticketed dinner event hosted by one of the guest chefs. Café Boulud Palm Beach’s Rick Mase hosts the next installment of the series with a three-course dinner with wine pairings, in collaboration with Executive Chef, Clark Bowen. At 24 years old, Veronica Swift is widely recognized as one of the top jazz singers on the scene.

In the fall of 2015, the young artist won second place at the prestigious Thelonious Monk Jazz Competition. Since graduating from the Frost School of Music at the University of Miami in December 2016, she has performed with Wynton Marsalis and the Jazz at Lincoln Center Orchestra, Chris Botti, and Benny Green Trip, among many others.

Veronica Swift will be accompanied by The Shelly Berg Trio for her Faena Theater performance. A five-time Grammy-nominated pianist, arranger and composer, Shelly Berg is also the dean of the prestigious Frost School of Music at the University of Miami.

Dominoes are no longer found just on Calle Ocho, the Miami cultural pastime is making its mark as a mainstay throughout the Magic City. Every Tuesday from 7PM to 11PM, La Placita will host Domino Night tournaments inviting local chefs to compete for the Golden Pilon. Also open to the public, the outdoor space will transform into a Latin piano bar with a pianist taking requests, complete with a cigar roller.

Each week, the restaurant will set up La Lechonera pop up where guests will have the chance to select different foods displayed and cooked on the spot. Inspired by the Lechoneras of the mountains in Puerto Rico, the menu will be finished with local ingredients and chef Mendin’s personal touch. Calling all teen chefs! If your dream is to work in a professional kitchen or you love the idea of honing your advanced cooking skills, the time has arrived. Dominoes are no longer found just on Calle Ocho, the Miami cultural pastime is making its mark as a mainstay throughout the Magic City. Every Tuesday from 7PM to 11PM, La Placita will host Domino Night tournaments inviting local chefs to compete for the Golden Pilon. Also open to the public, the outdoor space will transform into a Latin piano bar with a pianist taking requests, complete with a cigar roller.

Each week, the restaurant will set up La Lechonera pop up where guests will have the chance to select different foods displayed and cooked on the spot. Miami’s premier wellness center, Anatomy, is teaming up with Miami Dade Animal Services to help save the lives of abandoned pups that need new loving homes! On Saturday, June 15th, Anatomy Midtown invites all (members + non-members) to connect with, adopt and fall in love with a pup during the HOPE Express on-site pet adoption event and donation drive. Each year, over 27,000 animals are abandoned at Animal Services. Helping Our Pets Everyday (HOPE) is the mission of the HOPE Express mobile pet adoption unit that regularly visits different communities to help find new homes for their precious shelter pets. Anatomy is proud to partner with Miami Dade Animal Services in bringing this very special event to their Midtown location from 8AM-12PM. Calle is also known for his extraordinary ability to sight-read, interpret, and perform virtually any musical style.

It was obvious from the very start that Ed was a gifted musician. His energetic, passionate, and distinct sound captured the attention of audiences and musicians alike. His teachers and schoolmates often suggested that Calle’s sound is actually part of his DNA. CMN presents RESONATE: A Polyphonic Prospect, a special pop-up exhibit featuring contemporary works of art that aspire to the condition of music; the exhibit focuses on the role played by music in the visual arts, featuring works that have been inspired by music, and interpretations of different genres of music through various art forms.

The opening reception will also feature contemporary composer Miguel A. The final leg of the competition will be hosted at The Diplomat Beach Resort in Hollywood, Florida in conjunction with ADMERICA, AAF’s national conference, from June 6 – 7, 2019.

Only the top eight teams who qualified from districts and semi-finals will compete in the finals, moving the best of the best forward. Designed as a mango lover’s festival, Bingo, Bango, That’s My Mango promises to be a juicy jubilee celebrating Miami’s favorite seasonal fruit, as well as local community farms and purveyors. The event is free and open to the public.

Held at Miami Beach’s first food hall nestled just off Lincoln Lane, Bingo, Bango, That’s My Mango is a family-friendly event featuring unique programming, entertainment, live music, food sampling, games, live demonstrations, shopping from local artisans and a mango contest where locals compete to win prizes and a Mango trophy.

Each of the Lincoln Eatery’s 13 food purveyors will create a custom, mango-inspired dish showcasing different varieties of mango from various local farms. Patrons are invited to sample as many recipes as possible through a fun Bingo style game called M-A-N-G-O where one crosses off squares as they taste for a chance to win prizes.

Locals are encouraged to submit their homegrown mangos into a mango tasting contest with a celebrity panel of judges, where winners take home prizes for biggest, smallest, ugliest and juiciest mango. Surplus mangos will be collected and donated to the Miami Rescue Mission.

Saturday June 15 at 8:00 PM: Genre-bending icons and Raul Midón and Lionel Loueke join forces to present a special night of incredible guitar and vocal wizardry. The acclaimed instrumentalists-singers will perform individual sets of original material in an evening that will culminate in an unforgettable jam backed by Loueke’s dynamic trio.

Raul Midón is celebrated as one of music’s most distinctive and searching voices. Heralded as a “one-man band, who turns a guitar into an orchestra and his voice into a chorus,” (NY Times), Midón has collaborated with Herbie Hancock, Stevie Wonder and even Snoop Dogg. Blind since birth, Midón produced-engineered his first Grammy-nominated album, Bad Ass and Blind, which confronts the challenges of blindness and musical composition. Midón’s 2018 follow-up release, If You Really Want, was nominated for a 2019 Grammy award in this same (Best Vocal Jazz) category.

Lionel Loueke brings his West African (Benin) roots and world music experience to jazz to color his unique phrasing as a guitarist and vocalist. A Herbie Hancock protégé for the past 10 years, Loueke has also recorded and toured with varied instrumentalists and vocalists. Praised by Hancock as “a musical painter,” Loueke combines harmonic complexity, soaring melody, a deep knowledge of African folk forms, and unconventional guitar techniques to create a warm and evocative personal sound. Paul Simon raves that Loueke is “one of a rare handful of guitarists who move effortlessly between his West African roots and modern American Jazz”, and Sting cites Loueke as “one the most original, essential and inspiring musicians on our planet today.”

Dominoes are no longer found just on Calle Ocho, the Miami cultural pastime is making its mark as a mainstay throughout the Magic City. Every Tuesday from 7PM to 11PM, La Placita will host Domino Night tournaments inviting local chefs to compete for the Golden Pilon. Also open to the public, the outdoor space will transform into a Latin piano bar with a pianist taking requests, complete with a cigar roller.

Each week, the restaurant will set up La Lechonera pop up where guests will have the chance to select different foods displayed and cooked on the spot. Inspired by the Lechoneras of the mountains in Puerto Rico, the menu will be finished with local ingredients and chef Mendin’s personal touch. On Friday, May 31 at 8 p.m., Caja Caliente is welcoming Brooklyn’s finest, Chef Louie Estrada for their first “Getty in the Gables” pop-up event. As seen on Chopped Chef, Louie Estrada owns and operates My Cuban Spot, a traditional cuban restaurant in the heart of Brooklyn, New York. For this event, Estrada is preparing his specialty: the Classic Cuban Sandwich. Meanwhile, Leon will prepare Arroz Con Pollo, a signature Cuban dish she will reinvent from a classic recipe passed down from generations to her own mouthwatering twist.
Caja Caliente Coral Gables aims to bring locals a tropical laid back flare, the event is open to the public, no RSVP required as this “Getty” is reminiscent to house parties one used to attend back in highschool. This “Getty AKA Get Together” is like no other, jam out with live acoustic entertainment by Miami native Marti as you sip on specialty cocktails and ice-cold beer.
Open to the public, come one come all! This event will feature Happy Hour specials starting with Biscayne Bay Brewery Pale Ale beer at $5 and Mika’s mother’s famous Sangria for only $5. Guests can come as early as 8PM – and leave whenever the party ends!

Grammy nominee, legendary percussionist, and radio personality Sammy Figueroa has long been regarded as one of the world’s great musicians. His band Jazz Explosion, sometimes referred to as “the Latin Yellowjackets,” is considered to be one of the most sophisticated examples of Latin jazz, combining the excitement of Latin rhythms with the beauty and precision of a Pat Metheny or Brad Mehldau.

Join us for a special evening as we gather to celebrate the opening of “Chiaroscuro” a solo exhibition by Amanda Valdes.

Miami native Amanda Valdes’ iconic macabre style is instantly recognizable and has made an impact on art collectors globally. Valdes’ art focuses on the female identity, primarily drawing inspiration from the depths of her imagination. Her iconic dolls share a common trait in that none of them are drawn with pupils, creating an even deeper mystery into “the windows of the soul”. In addition to traditional canvas, Valdes also creates large-scale murals, 3D sculptures, and
illustrates and designs textile patterns. Valdes attended Florida Atlantic University and the Art Institute of Fort Lauderdale. She’s had several solo exhibitions, and is continually showing her work internationally. Valdes has collaborated with brands like Ford Motors, HGTV, Miami Dolphins, Warner Brothers, DC Comics, Macy’s and more.

There will be live music, complimentary beverages and a food truck on site. We look forward to seeing everyone!
