“Tal Cohen is among the best of a very few young inspired pianists I’ve encountered in my travels… Tal’s playing is full of passion, focus and creativity”- Joe Lovano

Israeli-born and Australian-reared Tal Cohen’s unique piano style owes its roots to the Jewish folk songs and classical music he played in his formative years growing up in Israel.

Tal was chosen as one of 10 semi-finalists in the Wangaratta Jazz Festival’s 2013 piano competition, Australia’s most renowned and fierce jazz competition.

Grammy-winning saxophonist Terence Blanchard invited him to perform with his Quintet at the 2014 New Orleans Jazz Festival. Later that year, Cohen appeared at the 2014 Perth Jazz Festival alongside acclaimed New York saxophonist Greg Osby.

Cohen was named the Grand Prize Winner of the Barry Harris National Jazz Piano Competition, gaining an opportunity to perform his music at the Main Stage in the 2014 Detroit Jazz Festival accompanied by bassist Robert Hurst and drummer Nate Winn.

After a final performance at the Sydney Opera House, Cohen was named the winner of the exclusive Australian Freedman Fellowship Award.

Now based in the US, he has become a regular performer with iconic jazz figures such as Terence Blanchard, Greg Osby and Robert Hurst and continues to tour the world performing his unique brand of improvised music.

Who put the gold in the Golden Age? Bride of the White Widow, a multi-media event by performance art collective My Barbarian (Malik Gaines, Jade Gordon, and Alexandro Segade), playfully –and critically–wrestles with this question in a surreal, post-colonial tale about the doomed crew of the White Widow, seventeenth century Dutch sailors lost in the so-called New World. A show within a show, Bride of the White Widow is an interactive play, exploring contemporary issues of cultural appropriation, globalism, and environmental collapse through song, dance, and games with the audience. A restaging of My Barbarian’s Voyage of the White Widow, originally commissioned by De Appel, Amsterdam, in 2006, and included in Performa 02 at the Whitney Museum, New York, the performance at the Light Box in Miami explores My Barbarian’s sixteen-year journey as a performance collective. Working at the intersection of visual art, theater, and critical practice, My Barbarian uses performance to theatricalize social problems and imagine ways of being together. Founded in Los Angeles in 2000, the group’s work moves through different modes that prepare for, present, and represent live performance: music composition, plays, and other texts; costumes, masks, puppets and sets; video; and drawings and prints. The group has performed and exhibited widely while maintaining a focus on the provocation of theatricality in the visual-art context. My Barbarian has been included in the Whitney Biennial, two Performa Biennials, two California Biennials, the Montreal Biennial, and the Baltic Triennial.

Emerging technologies are changing the landscape of Pharmaceutical industry and their relationship with their customers while creating new opportunities for collaboration. Pharma companies have to think beyond the pill and substantiate the value of their drugs in the real world, which would lead to a better patient outcome. Thus a necessity for partnership and collaboration with the healthcare provider is a must for pharmaceutical companies to be ahead of the game and make most use of the healthcare technologies, resources and tools that integrate with patient’s lifestyle which could definitely compliment the strengths of both pharma and healthcare.

The deployment of technology is now increasingly dominant in pharmaceutical R&D; the enhancements in data management and data integration are providing improvements to both the speed and quality of many clinical trial processes. The digital sensors connected to the Internet of Healthcare Things (IoHT) that is generating vast amount of Big Data is drawing the attention of pharmaceutical firms and moreover the Patient data is extremely valuable to drug companies as the analytics technology can be used to explore Big Data to reveal connections and patterns that allow the evolution of precision medication. Artificial intelligence has been a disruptive technological force in healthcare as a whole, but it is proving to have massive benefits in pharmaceuticals and drug discovery. The combination of AI, big data and IoT technologies will create new innovations and other eminent technologies like cloud computing, augmented reality, virtual reality, 3D printing and blockchain are being used extensively in the Pharmaceutical industry’s digital transformation.

Therefore this upcoming conference 2nd Annual Digi-Tech Pharma 2018, will provide a platform to all its participants an opportunity to interact, share and discuss the digitalization of Pharma industry. The conference will allow its participants to discuss the various challenges faced, new strategies, case studies and use of innovative ideas in the field of Digital Pharma IT. Also, to stay updated on the latest trends in digital, social media and mobile strategies required to overcome the obstructions in the transformation. This Digi-Tech Pharma 2018 is a unique platform in the Pharmaceutical Conferences which will allow IT leaders to share their technologies and strategies to help the pharma industries avail new opportunities to encourage partnerships and collaborations.

It gives us a great pleasure to welcoming you to this international 2nd Annual Digi-Tech Pharma 2018 conference.

The Global Clinical Trials Connect 2018 conference focuses on introducing pioneer technology, developing better patient engagement and collaborating strategies in clinical trials. With the right commitment and attention to detail, contract research organizations (CROs) and pharmaceutical companies can drive collaboration with greater efficiency.
The global pharmaceutical industry has seen a downturn in recent years because of the challenges and cost associated with pharmaceutical development, procrastination in drug development, etc. Clinical trials field is also faced with such challenges. Cases of failures, cost and delay are high. It is high time that we look into innovative strategies, new technologies, effective and quality collaborations to address these issues, which can cater to the needs of the patient and the industry. Due to complex clinical trials and bygone data standardization methods, we need algorithms and lucrative strategies that will enhance the clinical trials outcomes. There are vast data collected across clinical trial process, the standardization of these data will turn into an opportunity for companies to trap the information and raise clinical trial design, patient recruitment, monitoring insights and augment decision-making.
One response to this can be CROs and pharmaceutical companies can together work on diverse and varied clinical trial activities, also in near future we require joint effort for fulfilling outsourcing requirements and providing effective clinical trials.
This conference will bring together the industry experts and leaders across pharmaceutical, biotechnological and CRO’s for brainstorming on Case studies on innovation, collaboration and existing clinical data to headway the Clinical Trials process. Ethical considerations are given in this context and for this RBM are beginning to extend its concepts in Quality Risk Management; clinical trial predictive models are accumulated by enterprises, methodologies in trial design and many more.
It gives us a great pleasure to welcoming you to the Global Clinical Trials Connect 2018.

The Lincoln Road BID presents “Live on Lincoln,” a FREE concert at the 1111 Lincoln Road stage from 1-4 PM weekends. Sunday Dec 31 features the Rolando Grooscors Quartet. A two-time Latin Grammy nominee, guitarist Rolando Grooscors is a rare find on today’s jazz scene: a unique voice that strengthens and expands the jazz idiom with sensitivity, clarity, and uncompromising integrity. His love for Brazilian music motivated him to start different projects where Brazilian music was infused with Latin and Jazz influences. Here he began to develop a Jazz/Fusion style. Rolando’s warm, expressive tones and impeccable phrasing have been delighting audiences wherever he goes.

“Rolando’s guitar playing is on another level, yet on this higher plane, Rolando’s soulful, creative, twelve tone improvisatory style is always completely accessible and joyous. Rolando displays a wide variety of styles and concepts with his harmonic and melodic imagery capturing the essence of musical freedom, spirit and sensuality.” – Darryl Tookes

Led by Parisian Musician, multi-instrumentalist, composer, singer and songwriter Vincent Raffard, the diverse group consists of anywhere from 3 to 8 highly talented musicians from a myriad of musical backgrounds, with instrumentation including Trumpet, Guitar, Violin, Double Bass, Clarinet, and Vocals. Their wide variety of musical influences, ranging from Gypsy Jazz, Hot Swing, Ska, to Polka, result in the band producing a smooth mixture of progressive Gypsy/Parisian/Swing/World Music.

“A perfect stylistic harmony and a fluent technique are the results of this complex energy named “French gypsy jazz”.” French Culture Miami

“sweet sounds and killer music ” worldredeye.com

“The French Horn Collective are the coolest hipsters in town but they’re not making a style statement. They are just naturally, enthusiastically, undeniably vintage in their tastes and panache. They’re so cool, in fact, that Johnnie Walker recently filmed them for a commercial. ‘We are artisan musicians, and that’s what we have to do,” said [leader Vincent] Raffard, “to play our best all the time.’ ” Sarah L. Miami, Florida 33127

Karen Finley’s rave-reviewed solo performance Unicorn Gratitude Mystery explores psychological portrayals of the power that drives American election politics. Set in the recent US political presidential landscape, it takes on citizenship, gender disparity, and abuse of power. The individual cost of public relationships at the expense of privacy becomes divisive with searing psychosexual dynamics of wit and seething revelation. The performance includes magical beings, aggressive thankfulness, and collective intimacy through Shakespearean family nation dramatic traumatics. Playing a unicorn and morphing into a Hillary-like, Trump-like being while enveloping into the blueness of the blue dress of Monica Lewinsky, Finley embodies an experimental nonlinear poetic text that creates a jolt of intuition, analysis, and unnatural disaster of the human kind. Karen Finley is a pioneering interdisciplinary artist who has performed and exhibited internationally. Her recent work includes Mandala: Reimagined Columbus Circle, an interactive walk that examines the symbols and history of Columbus Circle; Artist Anonymous, a self-help meeting for those addicted to art; Written in Sand, a performance of her writings on AIDS; Open Heart, a Holocaust memorial at Camp Gusen, Austria; and Sext Me If You Can, where Finley creates commissioned portraits inspired by “sexts” received from the public. She is the author of eight books, including her latest, the twenty-fifth anniversary edition of Shock Treatment (City Lights). Grabbing Pussy (OR Books) is forthcoming in 2018. A recipient of many awards and grants, including a Guggenheim Fellowship, she is a professor of Art and Public Policy at New York University.

New Year’s Eve 2018 Hosted By Thomas Jack.

Sunday, December 31, 2017.

2901 Collins Ave , Miami Beach FL.

WHO/WHAT: Say goodbye to 2017 and ring in 2018 in true Magic City style – with an epic New Year’s Eve blowout. Dance to the tech house beats by Australian DJ, record producer and musician, Thomas Jack, on Sunday, December 31, inside Basement Miami. Complete with a D&B sound system, dramatic lighting and not to mention a bowling alley, ice skating rink, and variety of VIP table packages for Miami partygoers to enjoy, Basement is the perfect nightlife venue to ring in the new year on a high note.

Thomas Jack may be a festival headliner, but the gig at Basement will be a chance to catch one of his notorious free-wheeling extended sets up close and personal. Fresh off his summer long residency in Ibiza, Jack’s devil may care attitude and sense of fun behind the decks is sure to make the first sunrise of 2018 something special. Known for his laid-back summertime dance tunes and experiential EDM sounds, the sun-kissed Australian heartthrob will keep your feet moving until the wee hours with his latest EP, “The Versus,” and popular hit single, “Rivers,” among other trippy dance beats. Having collaborated with other chart-topping artists around the globe, including Kygo, Calvin Harris and Andrew Bayer, Thomas Jack has also headlined at a number of leading clubs and venues such as the Output in Brooklyn, The MID in Chicago and Hï Ibiza.

Performing at the same Miami Beach entertainment hub that has hosted the likes of Carl Cox, Damian Lazarus and Amtrac, among a long roster of other celebrity guests, Jack is guaranteed to deliver a night of nonstop dancing and celebratory vibes on the biggest party night of the year. And as if the night couldn’t get any better, a surprise DJ set will also take place inside Bowl to further enhance your New Year’ s Eve experience.

Artist / Speaker: Thomas Jack.

December 16, 8 PM: New York saxophonist Alex Weitz has an in-depth knowledge of composition that imbues his originals with robust, memorable melodies and structural integrity. The classical rigor of those melodies is just as evident in the way he improvises around them.

Since graduating from Miami’s Frost School of Music, Alex’s primary musical focus has been on performing, composing, and producing music with his ensemble, the Alex Weitz Group. March of 2013 saw their debut release “Chroma,” and after a long-awaited return his sophomore record, “Luma.” Weitz has appeared at such topflight venues as the Kennedy Center, the Monterey Jazz Festiva, the Arsht Center, the Tucson Jazz Festival, Gusman Hall, the Azamara Journey, the Telluride Jazz Festival, and numerous local, national, and internationsl venues with his own group and as a sideman.

In recognition of his excellence, Weitz received DownBeat’s Outstanding Undergraduate Soloist award of 2013, as well as recognition from ASCAP as an outstanding young jazz composer, and in 2014 his original “Song for Peace” was featured as the theme song for the Swedish documentary, “Bettan’s Taxi.” The upcoming year is already looking to be a breakout one for Weitz, and with the release of “Luma” it’s only a matter of time before discerning ears will awaken to his unmistakable voice.

Featuring: Alex Weitz, sax; Tal Cohen, piano; Ben Tiberio, bass; Michael Piolet, drums.

“It is impossible not to be knocked out by the sheer creative firepower of Alex Weitz.” – The Jazz Word
