In the ever-evolving world of contemporary art, few exhibitions stand out as truly original and unmissable, but Politics’ latest solo exhibition achieves precisely that. This artist, known for breaking traditional boundaries, has unveiled a collection that defies convention, combining cubism, abstract, and surrealism across three series that explore the depths of artistic expression.
Each series in Politics’ exhibition pushes the envelope, blending familiar styles in unexpected ways on tridimensional surfaces. The artist’s innovative approach offers a fresh perspective on cubism, where sharp geometric shapes collide with fluidity, merging into abstract forms that twist perception. The added layer of surrealism pulls viewers into an almost dreamlike state, where the impossible feels tangible and the imagination knows no bounds.
By incorporating a tridimensional surface as the canvas, Politics introduces a new frontier for modern art. The interplay of shape, color, and depth invites viewers to step into each piece, creating a multisensory experience that transforms traditional gallery viewing. The surfaces themselves act as sculptures, morphing from painting to object, demanding interaction and challenging the boundaries between mediums.
In this highly anticipated show, Politics brings an entirely new vision to life, masterfully blending cubism’s structural deconstruction with the emotional freedom of abstract art and the enigmatic narrative quality of surrealism. The result is an exhibition that is not just visually striking but also conceptually groundbreaking. Each work serves as an entry point into a world where style and genre converge, creating something wholly new—a genre of its own that can only be described as Politics’ signature.
Art enthusiasts and collectors alike will not want to miss this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to experience an artist at the height of creative innovation. Politics’ fusion of styles, paired with their distinctive tridimensional approach, makes this exhibition a must-see for anyone looking to witness the future of contemporary art.

MOAD Projects is pleased to host artist Loni Johnson for an artist residency at Miami Dade College’s Homestead Campus. The artist will use the campus’s gallery as a space in which to create new work and will host open studio hours on Thursdays, October 17 and 24 from 11:00 AM to 1:00 PM.

Loni Johnson is a multi-disciplinary visual artist born and raised in Miami, FL. As an artist, educator, mother, and activist, Johnson’s work is rooted in family history and spiritual traditions. For Johnson, there is a cyclical obligation to give back and nurture our communities with her creative gift and it must be utilized to better our world. Through movement and ritual, the artist explores how ancestral and historical memory informs how, when and where we enter and claim spaces. Johnson graduated in 2003 with a Bachelor of Fine Arts from SUNY at Purchase College School of Art and Design.

MOAD’s programs are made possible with the support of the Miami-Dade County Department of Cultural Affairs and the Cultural Affairs Council, the Miami-Dade County Mayor, and Board of County Commissioners. Off-Broadway’s longest-running and most beloved musical, The Fantasticks, will kick off Island City Stage’s 13th South Florida Season beginning October 17. Audiences are in for a treat with twist with during Island City Stage’s South Florida premiere of this reimagined version by original librettist and lyricist Tom Jones featuring two young compelling gay leads. The show will run through November 17, 2024.

The Fantasticks is an allegorical story loosely based on Edmund Rostand’s 1894 play The Romancers (Les Romanesques), concerning two neighboring parents who trick their children into falling in love by pretending to feud. The LGBTQIA+ focused rewrite features two young gay men, Matt and Lewis, at the center of the story, instead of a young man and woman (the original characters were Matt and Luisa).

According to Playbill, during its original run at the Sullivan Street Playhouse in Greenwich Village, The Fantasticks logged a record-breaking 17,162 performances. When the original production closed in 2002, news of the closing made the front page of The New York Times. In 2006, the revival opened at The Theater Center, directed by Jones. That production closed June 4, 2017, after playing 4,390 performances in the Jerry Orbach Theatre, for a combined total of 21,552 performances in New York—still the longest-running musical production worldwide. Over the years, notable names who have appeared in the Off-Broadway and touring productions have included Liza Minnelli, Elliott Gould, F. Murray Abraham, Glenn Close, Keith Charles, Carole Demas, Kristin Chenoweth and Bert Convy. This newly revised version of the classic show premiered in 2022 in Michigan.

Island City Stage’s production of The Fantasticks is directed by Andy Rogow and stars Jonny Lee Jr. (Lewis), Kevin Hincapie (Matt) Jesse Luttrell (El Gallo), Margot Moreland (Mildred), Michael Gioia (Henry); Rayner Gabriel (Mortimer); Louie San Luis (Mute) and Jeni Hacker (Bessie).
The Fantasticks is co-produced by Michael Mullins & Terry Gaw and Mark Loeser & The Opening Doors Charitable Trust. Lights and Sound Sponsor is Scott Bennett and Set Sponsor is Glenn Goldberg. Following the global announcement of the discovery of a rare juvenile T. rex specimen by three young boys, the Museum of Discovery and Science (MODS) is pleased to announce the premiere of T. REX, the giant screen documentary that captured this incredible expedition on camera. This captivating science adventure and a love letter to T. rex, the Greatest of All Tyrants – the GOAT – is now playing at the AutoNation® IMAX® 3D Theater.

Anchored by the true story of the young fossil hunters who made the discovery of a lifetime when they spotted a large, fossilized leg bone on a walk on public lands in North Dakota, T. REX intercuts the remarkable fossil dig, with cutting edge computer graphics that bring the iconic T. rex – from hatchling to hulking adult – to life. Narrated by Jurassic Park actor Sam Neill, T. REX explores the newest science that has helped reinvent our understanding of the iconic predator.

With hat tips to famous specimens, landmark discoveries, and wild cinematic T. rex depictions over the last century, the film also brings to life a cast of prehistoric characters including rex’s archrival, Triceratops; Quetzalcoatlus, one the largest animals ever to take flight; and the 25-foot long Sinraptor, a species that likely fed on early tyrannosaurs.

T. REX is an immersive cinema experience produced by Giant Screen Films and D3D Cinema, in partnership with the Field Museum, Denver Museum of Nature and Science, Houston Museum of Natural Science and Natural History Museum of Los Angeles County, in association with the Cincinnati Museum Center, Cleveland Museum of Natural History, Museums Victoria, and New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science.
